Reviews
Overall had a very relaxing holiday and that was mainly due to the hotel and its staff.
The food was fine - Breakfast was fantastic and dinner was fine.
my only complaint regarding the food was the food labelling. it would have been better.
The room was airy, large and had above average balcony. my only complaint was it could have done with a smart TV.
The swimming was heated, which was great and it had plenty of sun loungers so didnt need to get up at 5 am to reserve.
The staff was friendly and approachable and the pool guy was the friendliest pool person I have ever come across.
The positives :
the staff are all amazingly kind and caring and always happy to help.
Check in process was beautiful
The rooms are clean and tidy and lots of space with a lovely balcony
Never had to fight for sunbeds
Clean as a whistle hotel and well maintained
Location is so close to everything
Cocktails are beautiful, I particularly liked the mango mojito
Things to improve
Food was the same most nights, love fish and rice but only so much I can eat. The Asian night was lovely, but apart from that one night the food was the same. And mostly cold.
Entertainment. There is none. Like 0. You would expect a resort like this to have an evening guitarist or singer or something. But the place is ghost town after dinner finished at 10pm as there is no where to sit and enjoy cocktails with light entertainment. You have to go to the other barcelo over the other side of resort for entertainment. Which isnt ideal and also they have kids. We booked adults only so there was no kids.
Pool needs painting. Lots of black marks but nothing too bad
More information needs to be shown. There are guests here that have been here for 2 weeks and have no idea you can go to breeze in the other hotel for a la carte lunch. Or after 3pm you can have a la carte lunch in royal level restaurant. No signpost of what dinner is on each night so you can choose if you are staying in or going out.
What i will say is we have heard amazing stuff about barcelo group in lanzarote and other places so perhaps they need to make this resort a priority as well as your staff and the hotel itself is so worth the effort and will really make this place the best resort in gran canaria with some small changes
We would deffo come back
Finally, the hotel is positioned some distance from the main centres and beach, so, we did quite a bit of walking on the days we did not hire a car.
Overall, we were happy with our experience and would thank all the staff for looking after us so well.
The hotel is really in the middle of nowhere. Not much about, although the Hiper Dino supermarket opposite is good. Evidence to this fact is that the hotel provides free buses to Playa Des Ingles and Maspalomas. Both are too far to walk, 3 miles to Maspalomas and both are buzzing compared to the area around the hotel.
There are no real bars inside, there is a pool bar. Ok, but nothing where one can sit down in the evening and have a nice drink, only the outdoor pool bar.
Mentioning the evening, there is zero, zilch, entertainment. In the whole week we were there the only thing that might be classed as entertainment was a solo magician who wandered around to some tables while we were eating (and knocked my plate flying with his coat tails) on 1 night only.
Eating, disappointing. Why do guests have to be subjected to a buffet every single night? I'll tell you why, there is no other place to eat. Go next door to the family side of the hotel, and you'll find a buffet as well. I like a nice buffet, but not every night with no other option. The food was generally good, and the staff helpful, but it would be nicer if like the H10 brand they had more restaurants, both table service and buffet.
As I mentioned the restaurant, there's another story here. When we checked in, the grey haired man at reception told us we needed to book at the buffet. It was a bit strange to have to book at a buffet but there we are. He booked us for the first night but then insisted he could not book us for all nights, so we must use the app. I therefore made a booking each night at 1930. All went well until Christmas Day when we were turned away. The helpful lady at the buffet said there were special arrangements for Christmas Day and was very surprised we had not been told when we checked in. She was able to squeeze us in an hour later, ++ to her.
We had a faulty light in the bathroom and on the balcony, duly reported on day 2. Still not fixed when we left.
So, in summary, quite disappointed. The key take aways were the location, no entertainment, and only buffet food for us that had paid for half board. On the positive side the rooms were nice as was the pool ,just dont mention the so called 1.7m deep end is welll over 2m !!
So we will not be going back.
Rooms: The rooms are super spacious and comfortable. The 2 sections with the bed and the sofa, with the turning TV, make it really comfortable. We were on the 7th floor, and the views were great as well.
Food and services: We had all-inclusive access from the Royal level, which means that you can access restaurants and bars of both hotels. The fitness center is open 24/7, and the spa center was a great addition to the relaxing vacation. The pool service, with the option to book drinks over the app without the need to go to the bar to order, was a great plus as well.
People: the best part of the hotel is the friendly and attentive people who work there; they make you feel that you are welcome, and they give full attention to each guest
Location: The hotel is located in the middle of the city- they provide free shuttle service to the beach and to the dunes. It's a 5-minute walk from the Jumbo center for shopping and nightlife.

Thin crust should be easy to get right.
But... this is the norm we see in Spanish pizzas. So I think the best bet is to drop pizza while in Spanish territories.
The general absence of spices in all food here makes for a really drab meal. Pizza with no punch is just tomato paste on a unsalted slab of cooked flour.
They bring soap, water and a hand towel for customers to wash their hands at the table. Ethiopian's apparently eat with their right hand. However, they bring cutlery too.
Very tasty food. A female dancer puts on a show at regular intervals too.
Loved the food. Worth noting that they charge 2€ for the bread and dips they bring at the start but don't tell you or ask if you want it first. That's a bit dishonest and sneaky. I thought restaurants stopped doing dodgy business tricks like this years ago.
