Reviews
Breakfast was decent.
There is an underground parking garage (€19 for 24 hours), to be paid at check-in for the entire stay even if you do not park your car on certain days, you still have to pay for the parking.
About a 17-minute walk from the historic city center.
Unfortunately, the front desk service was the worst part of our stay, especially during the night shifts. On Thursday the 13th and Friday the 14th, the front desk worker showed a clear lack of customer service skills. On Friday, we traveled outside of Granada and rented a car. When we returned, it was raining heavily, so we decided to park in the hotel’s parking garage. As soon as we entered the lobby, we informed the front desk that we had parked in the garage and asked how to properly pay for the parking. Instead of assisting us, the staff member rolled her eyes and reacted in a very unprofessional manner.
This was not an isolated incident. The night before, her body language and overall attitude were already inappropriate and unpleasant. After moving the car to the correct parking spot, we simply asked how to pay for a bottle of water, and again, her attitude toward us was awful.
Sadly, we will not stay at this hotel again. Ironically, we are professionals who train others in customer service, and we chose the Occidental because of its convenience. However, the front desk staff urgently need comprehensive customer service and bias-awareness training.
On our last day we couldn't have breakfast because we had to go to the airport before the opening hour of the restaurant. So they gave us lunch boxes which we really appreciate but in the car we noticed that we cannot eat the sandwiches as all of them contained pork meat (we are Muslims). We had to say that we would like to have a vegetarian lunch box, but we didn't think about it at that moment. Last but not least, I woke up a bit earlier than wanted as a Spanish man was shouting for a while in the corridor. Of course it is not the fault of the hotel. All in all, I liked the hotel and I would come again if I came to Granada again.
