Paradise Beach Resort & Diving School in Mirissa

The place was nothing like the pictures. Starting with getting there you have to travel through a narrow road that two cars can't even pass through. Bonus: THERE'S NO PARKING EITHER. There isn't a front entrance, you have to go round the back through the restaurant to get to a small office that they falsely named the reception. When we booked we were told that check-in was at 12pm, however even after arriving at 2:30pm the room still wasn't ready and we had to wait another 30 mins. While waiting we were sitting at the restaurant, the tables were unclean with dogs sleeping under the tables and we could see a borderline unhygienic kitchen. We also went to check out the beach that was filled with rubbish and despite advertising, didn't look safe, nor "family friendly". The pool had clearly not been cleaned in a while and was being used for scuba-diving practice. Once the room was finally ready, we climbed a dirty staircase and saw a bunch of rubbish left in the corridors. I will say compared to the rest of the building the room was ok, however considering the price we paid (SLRS 85, 906 for 2 nights) it was not nearly worth it, keeping in mind this was even after a 20% discount. However there were still many problems, such as the wet floors when we entered and the uncleaned and broken fridge. The balcony had a very low and unsafe railing, especially for children and it was all connected with the other rooms, posing privacy and safety issues. The bathroom had water all over the floor and was clearly old and unmaintained with some of the tiles being chipped, and the grouts being fully black. The shower is also inside the bath making it significantly inconvenient for children. Keep in mind up to this point there had been basically no service and it was actually hard to tell who worked there since there was no semblemse of uniform. We did have a strange experience with one of the ladies who worked there when we asked if she could helped us find the remote. She took it from the cupboard and wiped it on the towels placed on the floor to dry the wet hallways. Despite the money we spent we had to leave the so called "resort" due to the bad facilities and service. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone especially not for families, it is definitely no worth the money.

We went because the beach is beautiful, but the hotel is not in a position to recommend to anyone. Chaos from the road...
You can't get a big bus near the hotel... I had to walk about 700 m.
The entrance is also messed up.

The rooms are in different places... I had to go up the stairs...
There was a TV in the room. - Not working.
Hot water comes only at noon.
There was a kettle - it didn't have a separate plug.
There was a mini bar and a cupboard that could not be locked - there was no space to open the doors.
There are no plugs to charge the phone.
The food is not that good... If you don't eat it first, you won't have it either... I didn't even see the dessert...
There is a big pool. - Haven't cleaned in a while.
Although there is a beautiful beach, its value has not been utilized properly.
Dogs are everywhere.
But there is no manager.

Not really 3 Start property

To be honest we booked this hotel by mistake. We had been recommended a hotel with a similar name on Mirissa Beach but ended up here. I cannot fault the people there. They are very friendly and kind and will do anything for you. The dinner was good and the breakfast was a feast of delicious fruit plates, eggs and breads. Simple, local food and we enjoyed it. Layan has a tuk tuk and can take you to the main beach for a fair price and if you exchange numbers will pick you up again. The beach is narrow but nice and is good for snorkelling to see the beautiful fish just off the shore. This is a basic hotel, the rooms and linen are clean. Spacious rooms, wet room bathroom, comfortable beds. They must have been affected by the tsunami and doing their best with limited means. My honest review is that the hotel is old and tired and generally could do with total modernisation. Frequent power cuts, limited Wi-Fi, reliance on a noisy generator, the pool needs cleaning, there are TVs in the rooms but you can’t get any channels, glass doors so light from the hallway is always visible. I wish this little hotel well, the staff are kind and I hope one day they can make improvements.

I was scared in this place. Really really bad. Never again. The "hotel" is located on the beach which is not a clean one - a lot of boats, and there's a diving school so no privacy at all. It is 7 minutes by tuktuk from Mirissa beach. The room was terrible, and the bathroom was scary. There's no informations you can receive in reception, ladies look like you are bothering them and like they would prefer us not being there at all. We were travelling through the beauty of Sri Lanka and this place was really the worst. We love dogs but there's so many in here. By the pool, in the restaurant, and they are NOT healthy, unfortunately. When breakfest there was a worm on the table. I think Im not able to describe how bad this place is. Horrible. We cut our trip short in here. Do NOT recommend this place.
