When we said we are leaving (after waiting for an hour for some portions and sodas that never came.

Worst hotel experience of my life — Mirissa Seastar Hotel is a scam.

We had a confirmed Agoda booking for New Year’s Eve. Three couples, three small kids, and my son’s birthday on 2nd January. When we arrived, they shamelessly told us our booking was cancelled — clearly because someone else paid them more. No prior notice, no apology, nothing.

We were left stranded on the streets with children, scrambling for a place to stay. When confronted, the staff arrogantly said: “Do whatever you want, I don’t care about reviews.” That tells you everything about their attitude.

This hotel is greedy, dishonest, and utterly disgraceful. They ruined our holiday and my son’s birthday. Avoid this place at all costs — Mirissa Seastar Hotel is a fraud and a stain on Sri Lanka’s hospitality.

Extremely disappointing experience at Sea Star Mirissa. We were served an old bottled wine that had turned vinegary and was completely undrinkable. When we asked for a replacement, the manager and staff were rude and falsely accused us of having already consumed the wine and trying to exchange it. In reality, we couldn’t even take another sip because of the taste. The food was equally bad—soggy chips and a cold pizza. Overall, terrible service and poor quality. Avoid this place.

We were the only two customers in restaurant. I ordered beef burger and wife ordered chicken burger. After 30 minutes, they came out and said they didn’t have beef. (Not sure if they spent 30 minutes trying to go to store to buy beef). Changed order to fish and chips and said 10 minute wait. After 25 minutes they brought out shrimp and calamari and said it was the fish. We had asked that wife’s chicken burger was re-made so that it would be hot. Instead they left it sitting on counter in kitchen and brought it out cold. Only 2 customers and they couldn’t even handle this request. Cook had no idea what he was doing. And then charged an automatic 10% tip. This place is poorly managed, but they don’t care as it's in a tourist area. Very disappointed from 2 Canadians. Overpriced, bad service, and disappointing food. Avoid.
