The rooms had a strong unpleasant smell, and overall cleanliness was below basic standards. Bedsheets and towels did not appear properly maintained, and the general condition of the bedrooms felt neglected. Basic minimum hospitality standards were simply not met.

In addition, the staff attitude was unfriendly and unprofessional. Instead of addressing problems seriously, they downplayed them, which made the situation more frustrating.

Overall, this stay was uncomfortable and far below expectations. I would not recommend this hotel to travelers, especially foreign visitors expecting safe, clean, and reliable accommodation. Management needs to take serious action to improve maintenance, customer service, and overall standards.

I had a very bad experience at Sigiriya Amelia Hotel. The property was unhygienic and poorly maintained, and the biggest concerns quality of the staff.

The reception service and overall hospitality were extremely poor.

Bedsheets, towels, and the bedroom were not properly maintained or clean. Basic hotel requirements were missing, and the food and facilities did not meet acceptable standards.

Because of this experience,
I would not recommend this hotel to foreign visitors or anyone planning to stay here.

Management seriously needs to improve cleanliness, service, and guest safety.

I booked a one-night stay at Amelia Resort after seeing its 4-star listing and mixed reviews, hoping it would be better than it sounded. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and felt genuinely unsafe.

When we arrived, several basic safety features were missing:
• There was no wall clock,
• No security cameras anywhere on the property,
• No latch or safety lock on the inside of the room door.

Outside the hotel, there were groups of men drinking, and inside the resort there was not a single female staff member or guest. In fact, we were the only guests on the entire property, which made the place feel even more uncomfortable and isolated.

After reading more reviews about security concerns and noticing the secluded environment, lack of network coverage, and very poor Wi-Fi, I no longer felt safe staying there—especially as a woman. My husband and I decided to leave within an hour and went back to inform the staff politely.

Instead of understanding our concerns, the staff raised their voices, argued with us, and demanded full payment, even though the property was completely empty. Since it was already past midnight and the area felt unsafe, we had no choice but to pay and leave.

This was one of the most unsettling hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
I would not recommend this property to anyone, especially solo female travellers or couples. The atmosphere is isolated, there is no proper security, and the location makes it difficult to call for help if needed.

Please be cautious and avoid this property if safety and basic comfort matter to you.

One of the worst stays ever! Poor staff, poor reception, poor service, smelly rooms and the list can go on! Basic minimums were not met.

We were down in SL for vacation and we chose this place based on reviews as they were mostly positive. But it was sad to see that we were mislead by the reviews. From the arrival till the checkout it was a horrible experience. Baggages were not carried to rooms and had to climb with all that 3 stairs... (there's no elevator!)
We booked 3 rooms and in one of the rooms A/C was not working (in the family room in the attached photo). Despite multiple complaints nothing was done about it. They had rooms available and could have changed the rooms but no action was taken about it! Cutlery provided was not washed and was dirty. We had to wash ourselves... (we could have booked an airbnb if we wanted to do things ourselves!) We even had to cut short our visit due to the horrible experience with this stay. Watch out for personal stories slipped in.. Smelly bathrooms with frogs in them!
I could go on with a list of bad experiences here. Never again and avoid at all cost!

Also look at how unprofessional your responses are! Nobody wants to take down your hotel! We only want better services and value for the money we pay! You are basically robbing people of there money. Please improve your services
