Another incredible hotel in Sri Lanka! Tucked away in the jungle among local dwellings, mango trees, and coconut palms right on the shores of a picturesque lagoon, our stay felt like an immersion into the island's unique life.
The rooms are incredibly beautiful, clean and spacious, and have all the necessary amenities.
There's a small convenience store within walking distance of the hotel where you can buy small items.
The grounds include a swimming pool, massage and spa area, sun loungers with umbrellas, a relaxation area by the lake, kayaks, bicycles, and a yoga area.
The beautiful and well-maintained grounds, the diversity of wildlife and small hand-made details are a true delight.
The food is delicious, with fresh seafood caught right in front of you, and unique local cuisine. The only thing is that the prices are significantly higher than in the surrounding restaurants, but we only dined at the hotel and were satisfied; we had no desire to look elsewhere.
The hosts and staff were friendly; we were very touched by their kindness and interactions.
The beach can be reached by kayak, bike, or tuk-tuk. The hosts are always happy to help with directions and transportation, as well as with any questions. It's a great place, and we were lucky to stay outside of peak season, as it would have been difficult to find a room here at that time.

An Absolute Gem – Beyond Expectations! Lagoon Gate Tangalle is truly a slice of paradise, and my group of 7 had an absolutely perfect stay. From the moment we arrived, the experience was faultless. The accommodation itself is luxurious, spotlessly clean, and air-conditioned, providing a comfortable and relaxing retreat. However, what truly elevates this place is the incredible hospitality of the manager, Lalith, and his wife. They are genuinely dedicated to making your stay special. Lalith and his team are an absolutely phenomenal cooks. They pampered us with fantastic food; every single meal was a culinary delight, better than the last! It was the best food we had during our entire trip. Lalith himself is the perfect host, effortlessly arranging everything we needed, making our stay completely stress-free. We were utterly spoiled and looked after. We can't wait to return and want to recommend Lagoon Gate to anyone visiting Sri Lanka . It's more than just a place to stay, I found a friend.

Spent one night at hotel and I can't praise it enough. Just the food is worth a detour as slightly hard to find. Giant shrimps super delicious! Biking, kayaking with excellent guide into the mangroves spotting birds - and a water buffalo! - and across the large lagoon to visit Rekawa beach - pristine with no people in sight, swimming in the pool, and a fantastic ayurveda massage with hot oil,..... what more can you ask for a weekend get away. Staff super nice.

We had the most wonderful time at Lagoon Gate. The room was fantastic, spacious and well appointed. We enjoyed the pool area. The gardens are beautifully kept with an abundance of fruits, flowers and wildlife. The view from the balcony is beautiful and you can while away many an hour watching birds and lizards in their natural habitat. Because of the location we decided to eat at the resort, the food was outstanding, we were not disappointed. Our stay was made all the better because of the hospitality of the owner and his wife. You could not meet a more friendly and helpful couple.

The property is located quite far from the main road and I'll be honest, the access road isn't great. But that being said, once you get there, you don't want to leave. The rooms are big and very spacious. We booked the family triple room and it was huge and very comfortable. Pool was clean and inviting. You can use the kayaks at any time and go onto the lagoon. The staff are excellent and so polite. Food at the restaurant too was really good. Shout out to Lalith, Shaan and the Chef. You'll made it a memorable stay.

In a beautiful location. Everyone at this amazing property was so kind and helpful. Free kayaks and bikes. Great food! The rooms are clean, modern and very comfortable. The owner believes in locally produced food and healthy eating. An abundance of wildlife. A great place to get away from everything and relax.

A absolute hidden gem and our best accomodation in Sri Lanka! The rooms were really spacious and very very clean. The family who ownes the hotel are so welcoming and will do everything to make your stay pleasant. When we were laying by the pool they brought us coconuts to drink from and showed us the animals around the property. The food is absolutely amazing aswell! I would really recommend staying here if you go to Sri Lanka!

The room is very good and clean. And we can see the lagoon view from our room. And the food is very delicious and healthy. We can eat many Sri Lanka fruits in the every morning. And their garden also good. There are some vegetables and fruits in there. And animals and birds also. It’s was very comfortable. We can go to safari in uladawa and ride on the boat in the lagoon. Every staff is very kindly and anytime they can help us. Everything is very good . We are very enjoying and relaxing in this hotel. Thank you so much for everything. I want to stay there again.

Lovely and calm place on the coast with lagoon. Possible to cayak there and see many birds, fisherman who catch the seafood in the morning. Very tasty breakfasts and dinners made and served with love. The manager Lalith is very hard working and friendly man with long experience in hotel runnings and knows how to make the stay beautiful incl. surprise with coconut water served by the swimming pool. Rooms are unique each of them and very comfortable bed. If necessary, he can arrange the transports and ayurvedic treatment on the place.

I have travelled in Sri Lanka 3 weeks and I can say this was the most valuable accomodation. The manager Lalit was so helpful and very kind. Ready to fulfill all our expectations. The rooms very nice decorated and the furniture was wooden and the very high quality. I loved cayaking each morning just in front of appartement in lagoon and the best breakfast ever. I would recommend to everyone to arrive and enjoy sounds of birds living in lagoon.
