Nehansa Resort and Safari in Tissamaharama

I had an excellent stay and a great safari experience. Everything was well organized and truly exceptional. I want to highlight the wonderful staff especially the young lady who kept everything tidy and was incredibly kind. The owner’s son was also amazing and even prepared a special dinner for me (Kottu Cheese), which wasn’t on the menu. Thank you so much!
At the end of my stay, I forgot my adapter, and they kindly sent it by courier to my next accommodation. I’m extremely grateful for their outstanding service!

Nehansa Resort & Safari deserves a full 5/5! Our stay was absolutely incredible. Dillum handled everything exceptionally well from check-in to checkout, and we didn’t face a single issue. The property is extremely affordable, yet the service and experiences they offer go far beyond what we expected.

Our room was clean, neat, and well maintained. We were welcomed with fresh coconuts, and later in the evening we even got to meet a few friendly deer they feed behind the stay — such a special moment. They then took us on a beautiful sunset lake ride where we spotted multiple birds, crocodiles, and enjoyed a stunning sunset. We also visited a spot where thousands of fruit bats were taking off for the night — an unforgettable experience.

Early the next morning, they prepared fresh coffee for us and even helped pack our breakfast for the safari. The food they packed was absolutely amazing, and we couldn’t thank them enough for the care they put into it.

They also helped us book a private safari at a very reasonable rate. We got a Hilux all to ourselves, and the 6-hour safari was beyond amazing. We saw elephants, leopards, crocodiles, monitor lizards, herons, storks, and so many birds. They made sure we got the most out of the entire journey.

Overall, we couldn’t recommend Nehansa Resort & Safari more. It’s simple, comfortable, and offers outstanding value for money. The experiences they provide are truly exceptional. You will not be disappointed — book this place with your eyes closed!

We stayed at Nehansa Resort for two nights with a group of six friends before heading out on safari, and it was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with fresh coconuts — such a lovely and refreshing welcome.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food, especially dinner, was delicious. The staff were incredibly pleasant and went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. On our first evening, they even took us on a beautiful trip for bird watching and to see the bats flying out of a nearby cave — such a memorable experience!

All in all, we were super satisfied with our stay. We’d highly recommend Nahasa Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing, friendly place to stay before (or after) a safari. We’d definitely come back!

Nehansa is a wonderful place. We were welcomed with great warmth and kindness. The incredibly friendly staff organized a beautiful sunset tour for us, where we could admire stunning lake, a variety of birds, and an impressive number of flying bats. We also decided to have dinner at the resort - it was delicious, fresh and very reasonably priced.

Before our morning safari at 4:30 a.m., coffee and tea were already waiting for us, which definitely helped us open our eyes! The beds are very comfortable, the air-conditioned rooms are spotless and well-equipped, and both the owner and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

One of the highlights was seeing adorable wild deers wandering into the resort’s garden - you can quietly watch these cute Bambis up close, which makes the experience even more magical.

It has been one of the best accommodations we’ve had on the entire island so far. Highly recommended - you probably won’t find a better place in the area!

Comfortable and had a nice little outdoor seating area. The staff were super friendly and very hospitable - even taking us on a free tour to spot various amazing birds on the lake and show us the local deer. They also arranged a fantastic safari for us where they spotted a tiger and many elephants.

Good Hotel In Tissamaharama. We were made very welcome with a drink when we arrived. We were served an evening meal. We asked if they would arrange our safari and they did. Owner greeted us. Owner was brilliant.Everything Is Perfect. - Nothing

We absolutely loved our stay at Nehansa Resort! The staff went above and beyond from start to finish. We booked very last minute and the manager messaged straight away to organise pick up from the bus stop we were being dropped off at (this was free!). We were also helped when it came to figuring out how to get to our next spot - the manager dropped us off at the bus stop and also waited with us till the bus came to make sure we got on ok. We were greeted on arrival with fresh coconuts (very much needed after our 4hr bus journey from Galle) and were then taken on a mini safari around the nearby lake which again was included in the price.

We booked our safari at Yala National Park through the hotel also - this trip was absolutely incredible! Our driver Amila did such an amazing job at spotting the different wildlife and we could not have asked for a better driver/guide. We enjoyed our stay and safari so much that we extended our stay and booked on the safari again for the following day (this ended up being even better than the first day with us spotting 3 different leopards).

The room we stayed in was lovely and super clean. It also had A/C which was very much needed after the safari. We ate here every night and the food was great - the portions were big so we never went hungry! The breakfast that was included on the safari was also plentiful and tasty. Shout out to the 2 guys on the front desk (apologies as we didn't catch your names) - they were both fantastic and couldn't do enough for us.

Where do I start, firstly upon booking the manager contacted us asking if we needed help arriving from Ella, he told us how to get there and everything, then met us off the bus with a AC pick-up. He then took us on a mini safari to see a croc and so many wild birds next to a lake near to the hotel. ALL FREE !!

Once we arrived we were greeted with fresh coconuts and made to reel right at home, they want to do everything for you. All the workers were so nice and attentive

The rooms were absolutely perfect, huge rooms that were so clean and beautiful with AC and fan if needed.

The first night we got took on another FREE safari to see the lake near the hotel again, seeing the different birds and wildlife at sunset time. We then stayed to watch the bats near by, it was amazing!!

They booked us on a safari with their full day driver Asanka, who is a wildlife officer as his other job. He had 20 years knowledge and was so professional, even telling younger drivers to slow down next to elephants etc. We saw EVERYTHING possible.

We ate both dinners at the hotel, everything was delicious. They also provide SO MUCH free bottled cold water, we were amazed at how much free stuff was provided. They also gave us tea/coffee and cake in the morning, so thoughtful. There are too many details to mention.

The staff were so kind they were always chatting with us, one of them also came on our safari with his camera and took amazing pictures and sent them to us. Very grateful for this service.

To finish they gave us a lift to the bus station and put our bags on the bus, again FOR FREE.

This hotel is the best we have ever stayed, my girlfriend never leaves reviews and she also is going to leave one. Wow just wow.
