Hotel Angel Inn Beach in Trincomalee

The worst episode in our three weeks trip. The rooms were not at all like in the picture. There were no windows, no hot water even though there were hitters in the rooms (they were broken), when we complained the owner questioned our need for hot water saying it’s mostly for little kids, and its hot outside. The walls and floor in the private bathrooms had no ceramics adding to the feeling of not wanting to touch anything, one of the towels we had received (which we ended up not using as there were no hot water) was so old and warn it looked dirty even though it wasn’t. We booked three rooms - one of them triple - and received three doubles with no windows. When we asked to leave and pay for an extra night as compensation, the owner argued loudly, called us names and insisted we pay for two extra nights. We did, happy to get away.
Wow, it was so unlike anything we experienced in Sri Lanka where everyone were the nicest people, always fair, always kind. It was the worst experience- do yourself a favor and stay away. I have to admit that the location is good. It is right on the beach, although secluded and rather far from all the tracking beach where you have a wide variety of nice restaurants and activities. There is only the owners restaurant on the beach and although we haven’t tried it, the music there is loud, it does not look inviting and I would never risk eating there.

We were given a tiny dirty room, without hot water asking us an exorbitant price, complaining they moved us to a slightly larger room; the location is in front of the long beach of the village, where the sea is dirty and gray and wavy, at least the days we visited it, near some very expensive restaurants on the beach; excessive prices for a tourist village without any special features that can justify such costs.
