Design Hotel Plattenhof

The building is charming. With a very nicely decorated interior. It is also well located. In a nice, quiet, cozy neighborhood, but at a walking distance from the popular, largfe area of Old Town Zurich, with all its landmarks, stores, restaurants, etc. There is a bakery, and a mini-mart, in the immediate vicinity (3-minute walk). They were open very early, even though it was the end-of-year season, and pretty much everything was closed, everywhere, in this city… The rooms are... let's say… minimalistic. But nice, clean, quiet. There was no thermostat control in the room itself, but it was well heated, the air was clean, the insulation was good, the temperature was quite warm and comfortable (end of December). The price a bit too high, all things considered. But things are often like that, in Zurich. The breakfast is exceptional. And it is offered in a huge, impressive room. The young lady who was there, Yanna, was an angel. It was very early in the morning, and she had prepared the buffet impeccably, seemingly all by herself (it was December 30, and there weren't too many people working, in this city, during that period of time…) And although there was a coffee machine, she offered to prepare and serve the first - the most crucial! - cup of coffee of the early morning. It was just perfect.

I stayed here for a night in Zurich.

At first, I had trouble understanding how online check-in worked, but the hotel front desk staff helped me out and it was a great help😊

However, the location from Zurich Central Station was not very good. There were many slopes and stairs, and it was difficult to get from Zurich Central Station to the hotel while carrying a suitcase and heavy travel bag. Tram Line 6 was also a short walk from Zurich Central Station, so I took a taxi because it was difficult to get there. However, the distance from the taxi stand at Zurich Central Station to this hotel was short, so I was sometimes refused, so I recommend using Uber or a ride-hailing app.

The room was very spacious and clean, and they provided a coffee machine and plenty of tea, so I received very good service☺︎

I would highly recommend this hotel to people who are used to traveling or who visit Zurich often‼︎

Excellent location in the center of Zürich. Very individual style, clean, excellent service and food. I strongly recommend staying in hotel Plattenhof for your next trip to Zürich! Amicable service personnel are always keen to fulfill the needs of their guests. The rooms are functional and clean and meet all the needs for buisiness traveller. Additionally, hotel Plattenhof is close to the university hospital what makes it to an ideal location for visiting doctors and health care professionals.

First off, the hotel is now the Plattendorf, not the 'Design'. Orbitz: you need to let them change it. A fair walk from the HB, the room was fine. The Italian restaurant attached has great Italian food. All in all a fine hotel (no free breakfast...)

The Plattenhof Hotel was very clean, the staff extremely friendly, and good breakfast. I must say it was very quiet, if that is what one is looking for. It's a little bit of a walk to the center, but very pleasant. We met local friends there, and it was a short walk to an amazing view of the entire city of Zurich. We walked down to Lake Zurich, past the Fraumunster Church, and you can spot the largest clock face in Europe on top of St. Peter's Church. Don't miss the "blue angel" in the bahnhof! Much to see but we only had a day, and it was Sunday. And then, back to our quiet accomodations in the Plattenhof!
