The Walliserhof Grand Hotel & Spa fails fundamentally on the most basic level of hospitality: senior staff demeanor and guest respect.

Jana, a female duty managerwas consistently rude, dismissive, condescending and bullying in her interactions. When I was visibly ill, she made me feel guilty and burdensome rather than offering even minimal concern or support. She attempted to guilt-trip me for using the hotel-arranged transport to reach a pharmacy—behavior that is astonishingly hostile for any guest-facing role, let alone in a luxury establishment.

Additionally, while waiting in the room for the porter to collect luggage (a standard service), I was unfairly charged a late checkout fee. When raised with Jana, she refused any flexibility or goodwill gesture. Instead she coldly blamed the guest, repeatedly stating “all information is on the website” and “you should have read the paper,” shifting full responsibility onto me while showing zero empathy or willingness to make the guest feel welcome.

On the pharmacy transport arranged by the hotel:
Jana: “You made the porter go out of his way. That’s extra trouble for us because of you.” This really makes me question if this is a 5 star hotel.

Regarding the unfair late checkout charge while waiting for the porter:
Me: “I was waiting in the room for the porter to pick up the luggage to the lobby as told my your staff on the phone.”

The staff coldly said: “All the rules are clearly on the website and on the paper in your room. You should have read them. No exceptions.”

Zero empathy, constant blame-shifting, cold tone.

This is not 5-star service—it’s hostile and unprofessional. Jana’s attitude ruined the stay. Avoid if you expect basic courtesy.
