The hotel is located directly on the beach. The location is a bit out of the way, but very beautiful. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. There are several restaurants and massage studios in the village where the hotel is located. The value for money is really excellent.
The beach is public, so there are a lot of people there during the day, especially at lunchtime. It is much more pleasant in the evening when the day tourists have all left. There are geckos in the room, as in many hotels in Thailand. We shared our room with one for 10 days, which wasn't too bad. Unfortunately, the internet is very slow.

Unprofessional and Unethical: Zero Support, avoid at any cost.
I am writing this to warn fellow travelers about the complete lack of professional ethics and support from Koh Ma Beach Resort.
Due to the current regional instability in the GCC, my flights were canceled for three consecutive days, leaving me physically stranded at the airport and unable to reach Thailand. Despite this being a clear Force Majeure situation, entirely beyond my control, this resort has shown zero empathy or flexibility.
The lack of communication is appalling:
- I attempted to contact them via the Booking.com platform and by phone.
- They insisted I communicate only via WhatsApp, which I did immediately.
- Once on WhatsApp, they systematically ignored my messages and refused to provide any assistance or acknowledgment of the crisis.
Most dishonestly, they informed Booking.com that I was simply "arriving one day late" to justify keeping my payment, completely misrepresenting the fact that I am legally barred from travel due to airspace closures.
A hotel’s true character is revealed during a crisis, and Koh Ma Beach Resort has proven they are only interested in keeping a guest's money, even when that guest is in a vulnerable position due to international conflict. I would strongly advise against booking here if you value reliability and professional communication.

The room was large. However it was located away from the main resort area. It was above the reception desk. Lots of traffic sounds from morning and on. The balcony faced the mountain view which was beautiful, but if you look down, it was the back house operations including dumping of grey water dumping. One of the nights, some kinda motor kicked in and was very loud like a jet engine taking off.
The service was adequate. We wanted a spoon to eat our leftovers. The kitchen wanted a 50B deposit which we obliged and got a handwritten receipt. When we tried to return it. The staff was very confused and took over 15 mins to get our 50B back. Otherwise, all was friendly and relatively smooth.
Location of our room was less than pleasant. But location of resort was the best part of the stay. Right off the beautiful beach with awesome sunset.

We stayed at Koh Ma Beach Resort and overall had a very pleasant experience.
The location is the main highlight. The resort sits right on Koh Ma beach, one of the most beautiful and relaxed beaches in Koh Phangan. The water is clear, calm, and great for swimming and snorkeling, and the sandbar connecting to Koh Ma island is stunning, especially at sunset.
The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable, with everything you need for a beach stay. This is not a luxury resort, but it feels authentic and laid-back, which fits the area perfectly.
The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, ideal if you’re looking to relax and disconnect. The restaurant and beach bar are convenient, with nice views and a chill vibe, especially in the evening.
Staff were friendly and helpful, and everything felt easy and relaxed, no stress, no rush.

Location is very good if you are looking for something quieter and further away from the city. You can get a very affordable taxi from the hotel’s reception or rent a bike. The food was good but not the best though, we ate either at Wangsai resort or went and explored the area around. A lot of reviews say that it’s the worst service they’ve ever had, but me and my husband would say that the service was good BUT if you come with high European standards then you’ll probably be disappointed. They are very simple people and they are not trying to kiss anyones ass to make you feel better. The rooms were very clean as well, nothing bad.

We only came to the swimming pool for the day. We paid 900 BHT for 2 adults and 2 kids. The swimming pool is really amazing, and so is the beach.
*But*, no towels are provided, the floor is extremely hot, no sun umbrellas. Im finding it hard to understand why they charge so much and give back so little.

The most greedy management all over the Phangan. Covid makes huge difficulties for all of us, business, common Phangan people and visitors as well. Nothing is predictable in here in Thailand, you may never know if you enter Phangan as the local authorities follow by their own rules. You may never know if you catch Covid or not, transportation has been canceled so even get in here is so much difficult. In spite of everything they wanted to charge me even when I catch Covid and I was stopped in the way to Phangan. Do not book there in advance, do not go there , there are many other honest and suffering Thai people with plenty of free places to stay.

Lovely room, beach front for only 1500 baht. The waiter at the restaurant was very friendly and helpful. I feel bad about taking one star because the resort is lovely! That loss of star is only for our experience with the snorkling, which was very disappointing. Tide was low and it was a bit of a waste of time trying. Had to walk across sharp rocks and coral for a long distance to get out far enough to try. If you are coming here for the snorkling experience, consider another part of Thailand.

After seeing the new resort earlier in the year.
I did not invision it turning out as beautiful as it is. When construction is finished (restaurant etc) it will be close to perfect!
Rooms finished to high a standard ... even with grounded electric plugs... almost unheard of in Thailand ! TV and small refrigerator in room.
Beach area remains as wonderful as it ever was in the days of Island View Cabana
Landscaping of grounds will be great and grown in a year or two.
During April to September sea water levels are much lower than in winter months.
Great value deals while construction being finished...it is not to obvious that construction is going on.
Wifi good in rooms. TV has English and Thai speaking channels.(fairly limited choices)
Beds very comfortable. Well appointed room. With spiffy biffy!
