R.T. Hotel in Khao Lak

The room was lovely and the staff at the reception are REALLY nice.
The private beach/lounge area is great but it's a shame that people book their sun-beds for the WHOLE TIME of their holiday (by leaving their towels/bags on the loungers, even during the night). I have never seen that before. So unrespectful and so bad the staff don't say/do anything. Because of that I gave 3 stars and not 4.
The restaurant is not very good and the staff not very polite/nice. The portions are very tiny and don't expect much fish/meat in your dish.

Unfortunately my stay here was a mixed bag. On the positive side, the resort is well placed right on the beach and a very short walk to the main street. Watching the sunsets from the beach was wonderful. The grounds are attractive and although I was not staying in one of the bungalows, my room in the main block across a small street was very close. The room was very spacious with a nice outdoor seating area but the bathroom looking a little tired.
What spoilt my stay and the reason I would NOT come back is that I booked this hotel to spend some time on the beach after my 3 months travelling. Unfortunately the majority of the clientele were the kind that marked their territory (sunbeds and shade) with personal effects etc that were never removed and most days there were many that were not used or only used for a very short time. When I tried to take a small side table one day that I didn’t think was being used (although it had a small stone on it) I was screamed at by an older (German) woman. In 6 days I was not able to get a bed with umbrella despite some days arriving at the beach area at 8am and with very few people there. Despite asking the (very smiley and nice staff) to help, they just allow the situation to continue. My overall view is that if you are the kind of person that will happily mark out your territory in this way, you will have a wonderful stay and in many ways feel like you have an exclusive and private beach. If not, you may feel frustrated that some people think it’s it’s ok to do this (and hot with lack of shade). It’s a shame the hotel don’t do something about this as I noticed other reviews mentioning the same problem.
