a wonderful place with great hosts

A wonderful and peaceful stay in the middle of rice fields, with a beautiful garden full of birds, frogs, and fireflies. The bungalow was sweet, with a terrace, and the pool was very cute.

We especially loved the Thai local food prepared by the owner for breakfast and dinner, and the overall relaxing atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to unwind while still being close to local attractions.

Could not rate more highly. The peaceful countryside setting is stunning—surrounded by rice fields and mountain views, it’s the perfect place to unwind.

What made it truly special was the warm hospitality from Pete and Ying. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Ying’s cooking at the Garden Fork Café was a standout—fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious!

If you’re after a relaxing, scenic getaway with genuine hosts and amazing food, Country Retreat is a must. We can’t wait to return!

The bed was super duper comfortable and swimming in the pool with that gorgeous scenery was super rejuvenating!

I cannot rave about this place enough!! It is so picturesque, situated right in the rice paddy with a view of a temple across the way. The hosts Pete and Ying are so accommodating and sweet. You can rent a motorbike for 300 baht a day and go on adventures all over, it’s such a great place.

What a truly special place to come stay. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. The owners are the most welcoming, kind and attentive people I've ever met.

And their place is just stunning. Built in the rice fields just north of Chiang Mai, Country Retreat offers you a chance to switch off and relax.

All the rooms are beautiful, clean, well equipped and have stunning views. WiFi is really fast and works throughout the place. The pool and bar area is peaceful and clean and a great place to socialise.

The restaurant is great, with staff cooking fresh food to order at reasonable prices.

You can tell Pete and his wife have put their hearts and soul into this place, as it's just stunning and there are many repeat customers. I wish we had stayed longer.

The fuses in the bungalow kept tripping. At night, we had to turn off all the devices that consumed electricity so that only the air conditioner worked. In the morning, when we turned on the lights, the entire bungalow was completely de-energized, although the air conditioner had already been turned off in advance.
There was some kind of smell coming from the bathroom in the bungalow.
The drain in the sink was clogged, there was some kind of sewage in the toilet, it did not flush.
In the kitchen: the salad with chicken and bacon was tasteless and looked unappetizing.
