Reviews
The hotel staff truly deserve a special mention — they were incredibly warm, welcoming, and an absolute delight throughout our stay. The breakfast spread was generous with plenty of options, and they even packed breakfast for us on a day we had an early checkout, which was very thoughtful.
The hotel also provided bicycles, which we used to explore the old city temples — a lovely experience. We opted for a massage at the hotel as well, and it was deeply relaxing. This hotel truly added to the wonderful memories we made in Chiang Mai, and we will definitely choose to stay here again on our next visit. Highly recommended.
Positives:
First off, the staff were super friendly and welcoming, which really set a nice tone. The room itself was lovely, with a comfortable bed and a really pleasant balcony where you could just relax. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of everything. The pool and the overall interior were quite nice too, even if the pool wasn’t always spotless.
Negatives:
On the flip side, there were a few letdowns. For context, I’ve stayed at the U Sathorn in Bangkok before, and the breakfast selection there was outstanding. In Chiang Mai, the breakfast was pretty underwhelming. They had passion fruit, but no mango or papaya, which you’d kind of expect in Thailand. The overall buffet was just smaller and not up to the standard I knew from Bangkok.
Also, the gym felt a bit dated and not that well-maintained, which was another minor downside. The room service through the app was sometimes slow or didn’t respond promptly, and certain items weren’t available or were overpriced. For instance, getting a coconut should have been easier given the location, but it just wasn’t.
Overall:
In summary, it was a nice stay with friendly service and a great location. But for the price, especially for travelers used to a certain standard from other U properties, the breakfast and a few service aspects could definitely use a little upgrade. But hey, the coffee was great, and it was a pleasant experience overall.
We got a massage during our stay. It was a 90 min Thai massage and it was “Amazing”!!! The best massage I’ve ever had. Wed been doing a lot of walking and my entire body was tense from head to toe. After that massage I felt no pain. We ate breakfast twice and checked out their rooftop bar. Food and drinks were delicious.
The hotel is centrally located in old town, which was perfect for us. There’s temples near by, markets and lots of eateries. 10/10 highly recommend!!
I have to give a massive shout-out to Mr. Boy. He wasn't just doing his job; he made us feel like old friends. He remembered our names, his recommendations for local eats were spot-on, and he had a way of checking in that felt caring, not intrusive. He’s the kind of person who makes you want to come back just to see him again.
The location is a dream for any traveler. We accidentally booked our stay for a Sunday and discovered the hotel is the epicenter of the famous Sunday Night Market! We’d spend our evenings diving into the incredible food stalls and vibrant chaos, then simply step through the doors into a peaceful, quiet sanctuary. It was the best of both worlds.
Our room was a perfect retreat. We’d chosen the highest floor, and every morning, sipping coffee on our balcony became our favorite ritual. Watching the sun glint off the pool below with the ancient Wat Chedi Luang Pagoda in the distance was something we’ll carry with us forever.
And as a final, lovely touch, the farewell gift was so thoughtful. It was a sweet reminder of our stay that we appreciated immensely.
A couple of friendly tips for anyone booking:
· If you or your travel companions have trouble with stairs, definitely ask for a lower-floor room, as there's no lift. It was no problem for us, but worth knowing.
· The only tiny hiccup was the shower, which had fairly gentle water pressure. It wasn't a big deal, but if you need a powerful wake-up spray, it's something to note.
But these were small things in what was a wonderful, memorable experience. We left feeling refreshed and already dreaming of our next visit
