My husband and I stayed at Mangkon Hostel for 3 nights in December 2025. It’s a cheap and comfortable hostel right next to Chinatown, so it’s easy to hop out to find dinner. It’s also a 15-minute walk from a metro station or one of the ferry stations so it’s perfect for exploring.
We stayed in a private room with two single beds. The room was spacious and had a closet and bedside table. The wifi worked very well. We were in room V1 and the AC worked extremely well. Our friends in V3 found the AC didn’t work as well. How quiet it is will also depend on the room: our side of the building (V rooms) face a busy street with traffic and construction noises until 1:30AM, but the other side of the building (A rooms) were on a quieter street. We still managed to get some sleep.
The hostel provides one large bath towel per person. The bathrooms are shared. It’s pretty clean but I recommend bringing or buying sandals to wear in the shower. They provide shampoo and hand soap on the women’s side, and shampoo and body wash on the men’s side, and the shower temperature and pressure range are great. Definitely check to make sure your chosen toilet has toilet paper before sitting down.
There is a nice common sitting area with a small kitchen and balcony. The fridge is large and they provide labels. There are forks and spoons, a few plates, and a couple bowls. There are no cups. I brought instant coffee and drank it from a bowl. But there is a clean water dispenser with cold water and hot water (the hot water didn’t work on Day 2, but we just microwaved the cold water). You can buy coffee at the counter downstairs.
We did not luck out with the room, but otherwise we were comfortable and it was good value for money.

The hostel was really nice. We stayed there for about 9 days and it was probably the best decision we could have made for our time in Bangkok.

Some foreign guests here were extremely rude, selfish, and completely lacking basic manners. They were drunk, blasting music, and screaming loudly at 1AM-3AM and even banging on the walls, acting like they had no awareness that other people were staying in the same hotel - despite the clear quiet-hours rule after 10 PM-6AM. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in hotel and shows zero respect for anyone else. It was no staff at night, so the noise went on for hours without any intervention. If you're someone who values peace, rest, and basic courtesy from fellow guests, this place can be extremely frustrating. The hotel itself was comfortable and well- equipped, and the facilities were convenient. Unfortunately, the lack of noise control completely ruined what could have been a good stay.

a very nice hotel in chinatown, fair price. location is amazing, one of my favourites in Bangkok! it's near a pier and mrt station. they have a cool spot for feeding the fish at that pier.
amazing food all around the place. i recommend! :)

A well located hostel especially if you want to explore Chinatown. Song Wat seems to be having a moment so it was full of influencers and content creators, very fascinating to watch!

I had a private room that was spacious and quiet for a hostel. There was a Smart TV so I could watch Netflix and other streaming apps. The shower was great (warm and powerful) however there was mould around the ceiling. Overall though, great value.

Gives a homely feel, looks warm, the door is noisy, near Song Wat Road, food is easy to find, 7-Eleven is not too far away. The only bad thing is that the towels smell musty. You have to bring your own toiletries, as is typical of hostels. Walk out of Mangkon Station, turn right, when you see 7-Eleven, cross to the opposite side, walk straight along Mangkon Road until the end, the hotel will be on the right.

I enjoyed my stay here, the staff is wonderful, sweet and hospitable, the little Cafe has good food though not a lot of options-I suggest the Nutella bread if you have a sweet tooth and the strawberry smoothie was amazing. It is about a few blocks away from China Town and always has delicious street food up and down the whole place. It is located in a bit of a worker bee kind of place but the rooms are surprisingly quite in comparison. I gave it 5 stars for the staff, the cleanliness.
Next to the noise, the mattress I had was very firm. Very firm.

In the middle of the city, it's quiet.

small hotel located in the old town Near Ratchawong Pier, Phahurat, Sampeng and Yaowarat, not far from Hua Lamphong. The accommodation is in a small alley, not difficult to find. You can look it up on Google Maps.
During the day, you can take an express boat to visit various places along the Chao Phraya River to Nonthaburi Pier. or take a walk around the Ong Ang Canal Kayaking is fun. If you are good at walking, you can walk to Sanam Luang. or go up to pay homage to the Buddha image at Wat Saket Golden Mountain. It is considered a very good location.
Late at night, walk to the Sampeng market at night Bustling from midnight to early morning. One day off Sunday night There is a wide variety of wholesale items to choose from. walking at night is not hot Near Yaowarat area, in the evening, there are delicious restaurants lined up on both sides of the road. There is a long queue for toast shop. Sweet time dessert shop is delicious. Don't forget to take a photo with the unique sign of Yaowarat. It's very beautiful.
At night, around the hotel, quiet but safe, clean rooms, there is a common area to use, there are dishes, bowls, refrigerators, microwaves, buy food to sit and eat. Shared bathroom separate male and female But it's comfortable. no problem most importantly, inexpensive It's a hostel that doesn't have dormitory-style bunk beds. but has separate rooms fully furnished If the average per head Going to stay for two is considered very worthwhile. It is another accommodation that is impressive and would like to recommend. For people in other provinces who want to experience the nightlife atmosphere of Yaowarat and buy wholesale products in the Sampeng area at night.
