Double D Boutique Residence in Pattaya

As a previous reviewer pointed out 5 years ago, the receptionist is a disaster. Not only does she speaks very little English, but she also seems to want to be unpleasant to people. She told me: "The rate today is 800". I asked: "How about tomorrow?". She didn't answer. She then gave me the key, I asked: "Which floor is it on?". She didn't answer either. If she doesn't understand, she should at least say: "I'm sorry I don't understand your question", not just keep quiet.
The rudeness of the receptionist has already been pointed out for 5 years ago by another reviewer, yet nothing has been done about her since (teach her English and teach her good manners).

This residence charges separately for water and electricity, which is OK. But upon check-out the receptionist just handed me in silence the 200 baht "remaining" from the deposit. I can't believe my two bills were exactly 300 baht, not 287 or 296 or something like that. It would have been honest to present the bills and charge the exact amount according to the bills.

The bed was super comfy, and I liked the mini-kitchen (a microwave, a kettle and a big fridge). The bathroom was good except for the water heater: water could be either hot or cold. They have a rare type of water heater: first, you have to open the hot water tap, and you have to make it strong enough for the water heater to switch on. But then it's too hot. You then open the cold water tap a bit... and the water heater switches off.

At this residence there is daily cleaning. Personally, I would have preferred the staff don't enter while I'm away. It would be great if the reception could ask each guest upon check-in if they want their room to be entered or not.

It is very nice of this residence to bring two bottles of water every day, but I wish these could be reusable glass bottles. It's a lot of plastic waste to be throwing those bottles every day.

The remote control of the TV didn't work, it was impossible to switch channels.

The swimming pool was great. It's that kind of swimming pool where you can't stand. It was my first time swimming in such a pool, it was interesting. (But it also has a section for kids, which is very shallow.)

Clean hotel but far from everything. Very cold welcome, my request for a ground floor was not honored while my friend had a sprained ankle (we were on the second floor!). The taps need to be reviewed, the wifi is capricious....on the other hand, a beautiful, well-maintained swimming pool. More annoying, while Trip promises an extra breakfast for 150 Baths, this is not offered by the hotel.

The staff was very friendly. It looked very clean. A little outdated and small. Good sized balcony overlooking the pool. Pool was cold as there is coverings above it. No elevator, but only 3 floors so not a big deal.
Cons: cockroaches in the room, our bed was very uncomfortable, anything entertaining is a couple miles away, so either walk or get a grab. The toilet would not flush.
You do exit in an alley, but we did not feel unsafe, just a bit smelly in places.
We ended up cutting our time here short and got by the beach for about the same price.
