Chaya Resort in Ao Nang

The location is amazing - right across from a quieter beach, 5 min walk to the night market, and not too far of a walk to the main part of Ao Nang if you want to experience that. I also appreciated having the pool and the deck/terrace in front of each room.

The rooms leave a little to be desired, mostly in the bathroom. There is a tub but no shower curtain, so the floor gets wet and doesn't drain. You have to lose a towel to mopping up the water after each shower. The key also doesn't work well in the front door - it took me a while to get the hang of it!

The staff is very nice, but doesn't speak much English. Good service, though: tea, coffee, water, and bananas provided every day. I was there for 4 nights and my room wasn't cleaned, but it sounds like I could have asked for that.

All that said, I would stay here again because of the location. Just don't expect an amazing room.

One more thing (not about the hotel): Do NOT buy a minivan ticket to Phuket airport from the tourist information booth right outside the hotel. They claimed it was a direct service to Phuket airport, 2-2.5 hours, but then they picked me up and dropped me off at another bus station with a long wait. Once I got to the station and learned the actual name of the company (Hatyai World Tour), I found HORRIBLE reviews for their services. The booth doesn't say anything about the company you're booking with, so I didn't know what I was getting into. Avoid at all costs, or at least expect the transport to take your whole day.

Location is really nice by the beach! Unfortunately, I was hoping for a peaceful and restful time but didn’t get it here. There are many dogs that live on the property and howl all night waking us up multiple times both nights we were there. The mattress was also very uncomfortable.

For three days the room was never cleaned. The Breakfast is always undercooked eggs,sausage, two toast and butter with jam and all.the beach across the street but to swim it is not very nice. Walls were paper thin and the nearby road is not conducive to sound sleep, and the lack of safe in the room and the presence of some Burmese barracks behind the fence were forced to take all valuables with you, as in the reception safe was not.the only plus is relatively cheap.
