Kradan Beach Resort in Kradan

Extremely overpriced. The reason I give it one star is only because I’ve had rooms in Thailand that are leagues better for a fraction of the price. This room was $114 usd/ night after discount! I’ve had better rooms for $25/ night (also on remote islands) There is no excuse for these prices other than gouging people who don’t know better. I would think this place is great for around $30/night and might even be alright with it being $50/night. But $114 after discount? With a normal price around $170/night is INSANE for Thailand.

There is NO WiFi in the rooms even though through my booking app it states WiFi is included. When I asked for WiFi they said there is WiFi in the restaurant. So I went to the restaurant (which is just an open air shack basically) and the service was so bad I couldn’t load a google search. I spent 4 days without being able to load a single thing and it rained for 2 of the days and I couldn’t even watch a show to pass the time since there was no internet available at all. I could get over that if the price was lower.. but paying expensive prices and not having wifi is absurd.

They also offer breakfast and all 4 days I spent here it’s literally just been white toast, cereal, rice, and an egg. The coffee is just powdered coffee 🤦‍♂️ (I understand in Thailand this type of coffee is common.. but not at high end resorts. I’ve had a room for $45/night on another island that had a rich breakfast with real coffee.. so for 3x the price for them to have powder coffee is rough. Also they only offer their joke of a breakfast until 9:30am

There is also no hand soap in the rooms and they don’t offer to make up your room until you actually go ask them. Which is understandable on a remote island, but I guarantee the other resorts on the island actually check on their guests. I had to ask for water each day as well.

While I’m complaining about this place I should also mention that the resort right next door offers snorkels for their guests if you deposit 1000 baht and then they return your baht after using the snorkel. But Kradan Beach Resort? They charge 50 baht per hour for a snorkel to use. They should literally have a snorkel in the room for the insane prices they ask for. 50 baht per hour every time you want it? Just buy a snorkel before coming for 250 baht from a store on the mainland.

As for the room itself, it looks okay. It’s nothing super special.. but because of its location it’s not private whatsoever. People from all the resorts and day trippers around will walk right in front of the room and stare right inside your windows if they are open. The next Bungalows is right next door with nothing in between blocking your view from them. So if you sit in the chairs in front of your bungalow you’re basically hanging out with all your neighbors. Definitely not exactly a relaxing getaway for a couple. We walked the beach and checked out the other resorts and all of the others (even though they are MORE expensive) seem more worth the premium prices.

Also just taking a quick walk behind the resort shows where they dump all their trash, and it’s not pretty. Sadly this place has lots of potential but the prices they ask are not even slightly worth it. Just visit a different island for the same price and you’ll get your worth. (Honestly Koh Kradan is not that special either.. the beach is beautiful but many islands have beautiful beaches that are very similar)
