Reviews
I usually leave good reviews for hotels I stay at, but unfortunately this one did not meet expectations especially considering the price. I don’t have anything personal against the staff, but you can definitely find better quality for the same or even lower price in Istanbul.
We checked in early, and the staff told us that although breakfast was takin place until 10:30 so because it wasn't part of the time we were supposed to check in at we had to pay, we were supposed to check in at 2pm and came before 10am so we had to pay. That sounded fair, and we agreed to pay 200 lira per person.
We went to the room they gave us and started unpacking, but shortly after, a staff member knocked and said they gave us the wrong room by mistake and asked us to move. That was unprofessional, but we didn’t make a big deal out of it and agreed to move to the correct room.
At breakfast, things seemed okay, but once we got back to the room, we started noticing issues:
The bedsheets were clearly not new or freshly washed — they seemed reused from previous guests.
Towels were also not clean, looked old, and didn’t smell fresh.
They didn’t provide a phone number or way to reach reception from the room, which was very inconvenient.
When we asked for bottled water, even though we offered to pay, they said they don’t provide any. That was surprising. Later that night, they told us we owed 300 lira each for the breakfast, even though earlier they said it was 200. This was confusing and felt dishonest. We insisted that we were told 200 lira and that we already paid that amount — they eventually accepted it, but the inconsistency was frustrating.
During our 4-day stay (3 nights), room cleaning was another issue. We had to ask for cleaning each day, and even when they came, all they did was:
Make the bed (with the same dirty sheets)Flush the toilet Leave used towels (only 2), not fresh ones
By the 3rd day, I was fed up and told them directly. They sent a cleaner who did the exact same thing — no mopping, no cleaning of the smelly bathroom, just basic surface tidying. Also, the bathroom door was broken — it wouldn’t close properly unless we pushed it really hard.
Overall, this was not a hygienic or professional experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to others, especially for the price. With just a bit more effort, the hotel could improve a lot, but for now, I’d say look elsewhere.
they are part of the a’la sofia hotel scam, i booked a’la sofia and they transferred us here “Stone Hotel Istanbul” saying room was not available on arrival.
Rooms were not cleaned there were even used soaps, No towels in the bathroom and I had to ask multiple times until we receive it on the first day midnight.
air conditioner was coded so that we cannot use it and once complained they allowed use saying it’s working.
Only one light was working out of 4 available in the hanging lights. lights holders were also displaced and never fixed.
room was moldy and no bottled water in the room. bathroom was horrible and moldy and nothing was working as expected.
on our last day we had to go beg for toilet papers as room service do not replace toiled papers and there was no place to get if needed.
I wouldn’t recommend this place.
All in all, an excellent place to stop by at an affordable price. Teşekkürler Stone Hotel!
The first room was in a completely damp state with humid air (the cellar is great for comparison), we were moved to a higher floor. But this did not improve the situation at all. In the new room, the walls were moldy, the window did not close, there was no door in the shower cabin, there was also no shower holder. It was all broken. There is no ventilation in the room, so there is mold on the walls all the time. There were hairs on the floor. And the worst thing is that we found bedbugs, bedbugs were found in the bed! We contacted the reception, they moved us to another room, commenting on this situation: “this is normal, once per few weeks we disinfect the room, but bedbugs periodically appear from visiting guests”! In the new third Romm the situation has not improved. There is still mold on the walls, hair on the floor and again a couple of already dead bedbugs. Wouldn't recommend anyone to stay in this horrible dirty barn!
Pros: nice view from the breakfast room and good location
Don't recommend it
Plenty of items in breakfast which is included. However, for a longer stay it will boring to have same 8 to 10 items. However, food quality was good and breakfast on terrace with bosphorus view was too good to experience. Overall a recommended hotel for this budget.
