Club Aqua Plaza in Okurcalar

After many amazing holidays in Turkey, this was sadly my worst hotel experience. The location of Club Aqua Plaza in Okurcalar has HUGE potential, but unfortunately it feels abandoned and poorly managed.

The towels were old, ugly and some even ripped. Around the terraces you can see worn-out covers and poor maintenance everywhere. Room cleaning was extremely superficial — they mostly just made the bed and took the trash; no proper mopping or deep cleaning at all.

Breakfast was probably the best meal of the day, because lunch and dinner were honestly very difficult to enjoy. Sometimes even basic chicken dishes were missing, and when available the meat was tasteless and so hard it felt like “the chicken died of old age”.

Next to the main building there is the aquapark area with extremely old rusty sunbeds on wheels and unbelievably loud music all day long. If you want peace and relaxation, you have absolutely no chance there.

There are still a few positive things:
The seaside terrace is beautiful, with an amazing sea view, and the beach bar area is probably the nicest part of the resort. The small seawater pool with direct sea view is also a nice touch.

But the beach itself is full of stones, and the sea becomes deep very abruptly from the shore — definitely not ideal unless you are a confident swimmer.

Most staff members barely speak English, which is understandable to some extent because this is Turkey, but what disappointed me more was the attitude of some employees who tried to act like “bosses” instead of helping guests. Interestingly, the people who actually worked hard were usually the polite ones.

70 euros for only a few extra hours of late checkout extension? Seriously? Yet my holiday officially started on Saturday and when I arrived Sunday morning exhausted, not even a simple bottle of water was offered. Shameful hospitality.

I love Turkey and I have always appreciated Turkish hospitality and services, but this experience was genuinely disappointing and frustrating.
People, honestly: pay 200–300€ extra and avoid this place. You deserve much better for your money.

I recently went to Turkey with my boyfriend and stayed at this hotel, it’s safe to say we were both extremely disappointed. The bed in our room was dirty, some of the towels were still dirty and the balcony door couldn’t be locked leading us to feel unsafe as we were on the first floor. The hotel staff couldn’t communicate with us as none of them spoke any English. To add to this, some of the staff in the food area made me feel very uncomfortable. Constant staring at me isn’t pleasant when trying to enjoy a meal. The WiFi that the hotel says they have doesn’t work at all causing us to have to buy passes for the country which was an unexpected extra cost. If you’re allergic to cats don’t go to the hotel as cats roam around especially during meal times, there were also tons of flies on the food. I wouldn’t ever go back to this hotel and I certainly wouldn’t recommend anyone to go here
