I recently stayed at Hotel du Vin Birmingham for one night, mainly because the location was very convenient for an event nearby. Unfortunately, the stay didn’t start well. When my partner arrived first, he noticed the room didn’t seem properly cleaned. We raised this with staff and were moved to another room on the third floor. Although this room felt cleaner, it still wasn’t spotless — the carpet on the stairs down to the bathroom clearly needed vacuuming, and there were two oil radiators switched on that made noise during the night.
On a positive note, the bed was comfortable, the room was spacious, and we appreciated the welcome drink vouchers for the bar downstairs. Overall, the stay was okay, but the beginning was disappointing. If we hadn’t had enough time before our New Year’s Eve party, moving rooms would have made us late, which added unnecessary stress.

Birthday night away. Very grand lounge and smart staff. Had some good martinis and lovely cup of tea. Spent the late afternoon and evening in the bar.
Cosy and warm.
Nice room, very spacious but felt odd like furniture missing! Bathroom dated.
Good bed and bedding :-)
Breakfast was terrible, let’s the hotel down.
Asked for cream cheese bagels and was given what tasted like whipped cream - defo not cream cheese.
Continental was very poor for such a lovey hotel.
Really dissatisfied.

Room standard poor. Portable heaters, radiator not working. Cracked sink. Lack of lighting. Tv not working. Corridors very shabby. Very disappointing as this used to be a fabulous hotel. However the staff are very pleasant.

Great location, comfy bed, however the room was very noisy (corridor noise). Also construction work is ongoing- nice drink token left to recognise this. One issue is the lobby, the entrance doors are very hard to open by yourself with bags as you are on the stairs. But overall good stay.

It’s beautiful building, rooms are nice but few issues:
- radiator in bedroom doesn’t work so had a portable one
- poor lighting in bedroom, only one spotlight in the room, bathroom lighting very bright
- radiator in bathroom is really loud when switched on
- window had a gap, not sealed so a slight breeze would come in
- on arrival no info was shared on breakfast or complimentary drinks
- room names are different and quirky but logistically annoying, had to do a full loop when on my floor trying to find my room, receptionist could have informed left or right for my room..!!!

Not sure I’d stay again but it is beautiful building.

Expected more of a Hotel du Vin based on stays at other ones. Seemed like they needed more staff and the hotel looked a bit tired. Lucky we got to breakfast before the rush and they ran out of juice and had a massive queue at the coffee machine. The cooked breakfast was nice, the bed was big and comfy and the towels were big. Will probably look for somewhere else next time.

We stayed in an absolutely beautiful junior suite, with an exquisite bathroom, shower and toiletries. Staff were welcoming and courteous. We had drinks in the smart but still cosy and comfortable Bubble Bar and breakfast the following morning was served in the lovely restaurant and was delicious. As expected, an excellent hotel.

Great and quality food. Nice for a romantic dinner but quite expensive

A nice place but very expensive for what it is. Being half italian i can assure you their are plenty of other options in and around the city. Food was ok and staff too busy chatting to each other. Even pizza express give a better service. Some of the food arrived luke warm and you loose half the taste. Wouldnt go again.

Went for a work meal. Was a very good meal and good service. A little abrupt but they were Italian, so authentic! House wine is recommended. Lobster Thermador was very good, Gnocci was a bit odd, more like a potato cake, they were massive. I wouldn't order the gnocci again, the seafood sharer looked great though. Was very busy for a week night. Avoid if you don't like cheese!
