Room not that great
22.12.2025 Guest
Really beautiful hotel situated literally across from the New Street train station and right in the heart of Birmingham. The staff were polite and helpful, welcoming and accommodating. The hotel was clean, warm and had beautiful decor.
We stayed in a standard double, the room was huge and had all you needed. The bathroom was really lovely, spacious, warm and clean.
Despite it being the busiest Saturday night of the year and outside being very busy and noisy, we could hear very little from the room and slept comfortably.
Absolutely fab overall, good price and would recommend.

Had a great stay. Staff were lovely and so helpful. Room had everything you could need and the location is perfect for the station, shopping and the theatre.

Great old hotel very spacious and full of character.. bit noisey from the street early hours but guess it is a city center ... great breakfast , bread/toast could be better quality and so could the coffees  but it was minor and did the job . We would stay here again conveniently next to the train station and tram stop to get around .
Lovely staff too :)

Very convenient place. Old-style but nice decoration. Clean, and single-room size is reasonable.

Amazing location in the heart of Birmingham, a few steps from train station, friendly staff and the restaurant is excellent!

What a gem! Literally direct opposite one of the rear entrances of the grand New Street Station, up the stairs/lift into a little arcade of shops (nail bar/hair salon and luxury watches) and the hotel entrance.

The check in lobby is nothing much impressive but the overall building and decor with high ceilings, big staircases and marble surfaces are albeit a bit outdated in tone, still much preferable to us.

The room is very spacious and the bathroom with Elemis supplied soap walk-shower and self-standing bathtub is the biggest we’ve ever been into.

The hotel bar, restaurant and breakfast area are located on the first floor looking over the New Street pedestrian shopping street and the staff are very good.

Nice friendly staff very helpful with my son who had braces fitted so he couldn't have certain items in his sub. Tasty and good price

Apparently under a new franchise - they have upped the prices and sized down the portions. A "double meat" salad is now measured the same as the original single portion, and the portion control pots are no longer used. The staff do not listen to what you request and repeatedly get your orders wrong. Use another subway.

Quick food with an average wait.

Great selection of made to order baguettes
