The chequers at Burcot in Oxford

Stayed here as a group of six (three couples). Cannot recommend this place enough. Every Team Member we encountered was friendly and professional. The accommodation in the adjoining courtyard was clean, fresh and peaceful, with all the amenities that we needed to make our stay comfortable. Now to the food, well where to start. It’s obvious that the chef is passionate about what he produces. The was evident in every dish that left the kitchen. We had dinner and breakfast there and could not fault it. Each one of us said how exceptional the food was. Even though the restaurant was busy we were treated as if we were the only ones there. After service the chef took time to talk to us and wanted to know about our day If you appreciate good hospitality and good food, then this is the place for you. We will definitely be returning.

This was our second stay at The Chequers. The room is very comfortable with lot's of character and a great sized bathroom with walk in shower. We didn't eat at the Chequers this visit as the weather was lovely and we wanted to to take advantage of that and eat somewhere by the river, but we have eaten here previously and found the food to be of a good standard and presented well. We enjoyed our breakfast very much and found plenty of dishes to choose from. Last but not least we again found the staff welcoming and polite. We will definitely be back at some point.

Visited again for the 4th/5th time. We all had roasts and they were amazing as always! The food here is fantastic and we’ve never had a time where it hasn’t been brilliant quality. Staff are always polite and helpful and we will 100% be going again. It is quite pricey in here but it’s so worth it for how delicious the food is. Would highly recommend.

First time visiting this pub last week after it was highly recommended and it did not disappoint! Great service, great food! The decor is beautiful and moody!! We loved it so much we are back this Sunday for another roast!

Stayed here as visiting family close by on our way down south. We weren't quite sure what to expect but we were greeted by the staff and shown to our room. The rooms are off to the side by the carport. It was honestly a lovely stay, a personalised greeting with the information, the room was clean and had everything you could need. We managed to find time to visit the pub and have a few drinks by the open fire. We would definitely stay here again. The key is hilariously large though! The only noise we heard during our stay was the keys jangling!

This is my third stay at the Chequers at Burcot. On this occasion I was with my Son (we were visiting friends in Didcot) so I booked two rooms. Once again everything was perfect. Staff attentive, kind and welcoming. The food was exceptional (we had breakfast this visit) our rooms were spotlessly clean. A very enjoyable visit. Thank you.

Gorgeous room and amazing restaurant. We stayed for 2 nights and had one dinner and two breakfasts here and it was incredible. Would definitely recommend if visiting the area. The staff were lovely and we had a great stay!

Overnight stay at this fantastic pub with rooms. The room (no 3) was lovely. Large, clean and nicely decorated with all amenities you need. The only quibble was the noisy fridge which we had to turn off overnight. The food in the pub was exceptional. Nicest meal my husband has had in a long time, according to him! It is quite pricy but you do get what you pay for. The staff were lovely and the service was excellent. The location is a few miles from Dorchester-on-Thames and Wallingford which are lovely places to visit.

Recently stayed at the Chequers with the family. A good location with only a short ride into Oxford but sufficiently rural. We adjacent rooms which were both clean, modern and well appointed. We had a delicious gastro-pub style meal in a lovely country pub style setting. Plenty on offer for the whole family from simple pub grub or choices to suit the more advanced palate. The staff were all welcoming and went out of their way to return my daughter's blanket which we thought had finally gone forever!
