Sunset West Hotel, SureStay Collection by Best Western in Los Angeles

Stayed here for 2 days. Room was clean, bed was ok, and simple breakfast was included. Location is handy, about a short walk to Hollywood Blvd.

Free parking is a plus, but spots are very tight and not enough for everyone. The area has quite a few homeless around, but there is hotel security so I felt mostly safe.

Smoking is allowed on the property, including right outside the room doors. Since the rooms are close to each other, I could smell smoke inside my room as well.

The hotel is decent, and the staff is friendly. But cockroaches are running everywhere, and, as is common in all hotels, the water drains poorly in the bathroom.
The bed linens were clean, but the pillows smelled strongly of sweat. Even though the pillows aren't expensive, it would be great if they could be changed more often.

We checked in late last week due to an emergency. Unfortunately, the air in Room 227 did not feel comfortable for us. It seemed like an air treatment or purification device might still have been running.

Within a few minutes, we experienced throat irritation and coughing, so we decided to leave and cancel our stay for health reasons.

After leaving, we continued coughing and felt nauseous for a while before gradually feeling better.

We understand hotels may have cleaning or air treatment procedures, but we believe such devices should be turned off before guests enter, and rooms should be properly ventilated.

We hope management will review their room preparation process to ensure a safer and more comfortable experience for future guests.

Great location, nice building, great water pressure. Room was sufficient (no extra blankets but it was fine because the heater worked). Continental breakfast was the basic/typical - would have been better with proper orange juice and coffee; small space for eating. Parking was tight (and no plug for an all-electric vehicle).

I read a few reviews of this hotel and wasn't sure at first whether to book a room here for my two nights in Los Angeles (Hollywood). But I don't regret doing it, as it's really good value for the price.
First, the negative points: The parking situation is really difficult. During our stay, there were a lot of large cars, and the parking spaces are all very narrow and there's generally very little space.
You can often see dead or even live cockroaches outside.
It's quite noisy at night, and there are a lot of homeless people in the area, and it smells of urine in many places in the immediate vicinity.
The breakfast area is quite small.

Positives: We encountered only friendly and helpful staff, whether at check-in, with the cleaning staff, or even the maintenance staff or security personnel.
The breakfast area is small, but it had everything you need.
It's fairly centrally located in Hollywood, and you can easily walk to the Walk of Fame and other attractions.
Housekeeping cleaned the room every day (both the bed and the bathroom).
I can't comment on the pool, as we didn't use it, but it looked clean and there were guests in it from time to time. It smelled strongly of chlorine.

Conclusion: If you're not expecting a luxury hotel or traveling with a huge vehicle, but are simply looking for a centrally located place to stay, then this hotel is perfectly adequate.

It was just ok. Good location, a bit outdated, would need some care
