Courtyard Orlando International Drive/Convention Center in Orlando

I chose to stay at the Courtyard Marriott Orlando International Drive/Convention Center because Marriott's Courtyard brand has always been known for clean, consistent, and dependable accommodations. Unfortunately, that was not my experience during my eight-night stay.

While the room itself was acceptable, it was noticeably dated and showed its age. The most significant issue throughout my stay was the water system. The shower consistently took 5–10 minutes to produce hot water, and even then the temperature fluctuated unpredictably between extremely hot and ice cold. There was no discernible pattern, and this happened every day of my stay. One evening, there was no hot water for more than 20 minutes. I called the front desk to report the issue, and the hot water eventually returned.

A couple of days later, while my husband was waiting for the shower to warm up, the hotel attempted to call our room to notify us that the water for the entire property was about to be shut off. Because he was already in the shower, he was unable to answer the phone. There was no written notice under the door, no signage in the lobby or elevators, and no other advance communication—only a single unanswered phone call. Better communication would have prevented a great deal of frustration.
We also experienced a maintenance issue when the bathtub spout unexpectedly detached and fell into the tub, requiring a maintenance visit to repair it.

I brought these concerns to management during my stay. Ivan, the regional manager on duty, was courteous and honest in our conversation, which I appreciated. However, after our discussion, there was no follow-up and no apparent effort to address the ongoing issues or ensure the remainder of our stay was improved.

After eight days, the water temperature problems remained exactly as they had been on the first day. For a Marriott property, I expected a much more reliable experience. Based on my stay, I would rate this hotel 3 stars or lower and would hesitate to stay at this property again until these issues are resolved.
