The Line Hotel in Austin

Elevators kept breaking; very dark in terms of lack of light in rooms and hallways. Older hotel that has minimum updates

I always rent here with my adult daughter, this time we brought my son we wanted to show him the amazing hotel, but when we arrived the valet guy was very rude saying tal should invest in a suit case or two. Then the cleaning lady came in the room unannounced just walked in once she saw us we were shocked and she said oh sorry but I need to put something in the room so I went to get it from her and she walked around me dismissively and put it in the closet herself, I was trying to avoid her coming in the room bc my son was in bathroom changing and I didn’t want her to see him undressed (Adult son) but she didn’t care and did what she wanted. Then an hour later she came back did the same thing just came in and said oh sorry sorry and put something towel in the room when she walked out there was another lady outside the room. We had to put the latch to prevent her from coming in. I did tell the front desk, but she was like it couldn’t of been the same lady like she was there to tell me who I saw. But next I’ll take a pic I was disappointed and had second hand embarrassed , bc I raved about the title non stop to my son and he wasn’t
Impressed. He said he wouldn’t be back 😪

I wasn’t overly impressed by my stay at The Line. The hotel is arty and chic, however lacs a lot of functionality and could use some updating. The location is great for getting around downtown and there are tons of scooters/ it’s very walkable.

The hotel is rather dark. The entrance is like walking into a cave. We mentioned that the lights were out early in our stay and desk staff just laughed it off. The hallways, elevators, and rooms are also very dimly lit- possibly so you won’t notice that they’re a little shabby.

The ceilings are low-maybe 7ft on the floors with rooms.

The room is spacious but not super comfy. The edgy touches are cool but not very functional. The bed is very low to the ground and more like a futon than a quality bed. I also didn’t love that the in room amenities weren’t clearly labelled- like the minibar not being labeled, instead you have to scan a QR code to find any info.

The pool was relaxing and it has bar access. There was quite a bit of sediment in the pool and I didn’t love that there is a walking trail right by the side of the pool. Not very private. Could definitely use more plant coverage than is available.

Overall, I love the arty concept but the hotel lacks a lot of basic guest experience needs.
