Izumrud Palace in Samarkand

Everything was excellent — the hotel is clean, the breakfast was good, and it is situated near many good eating restaurants. The location is very convenient, close to the train station and main attractions. The staff can speak English and were extremely helpful. The hotel also arranged transport transfer for us. When I accidentally missed my train and forgot to inform them, the management still took the initiative to text me and waited to ensure that my family and I arrived safely. Truly heartfelt service. We will definitely return.

Good sized room for a basic hotel. TW was YouTube only, but we could get some news in English. The bathroom worked fine as did the nice windows on our corner room. Only bad part was the breakfast room that had a lot of flies buzzing all around. Crowded and lots of coughing idiots making it unpleasant. We were here due to an emergency need for a place to stay at 17:00 due to a bad booking from VRBO. They booked us at a hotel that was under renovation and closed down. So, this place worked fine for two days. A decent value overall and you cold do much worse for $80 a night.

Great hotel with very helpful staff. Nothing is too much for them. Family run for generations. Would definitely reccommend. The breakfast is amazing as well and complimentary.

Izumrud Palace is the kind of small, family run enterprise that deserves our support. Room was clean and spotless, newly refurbished and everything was in great working order. Bed was very comfortable. AC/Heater worked really well. Smart TV. Breakfast was simple yet complete—with a great supply of varying Uzbekistan pastries. Bathroom even had a heated floor. Balcony had a nice view to the street—but was able to keep away noise because its double paned. It’s a stone throw away from the Registan—a quick 5 minute cab ride away. Cabs can be easily hailed with the Yandex app—no need to haggle a price and generally fares were priced well. Airport is about 20minutes away and the train station is 15. There are also lots of good restaurants around the area—a local burger place, a nice italian place called Roni and even a KFC. There’s also a small convenience store/mart a few feet away from the hotel if you need anything like chips or toiletries. Overall, Izumrud Palace is in a great location and for the rate, offers excellent value. The owner was even kind enough to order a taxi ride for me to the station. With this kind of concern and care for their guests, I’m sure they’ll do well.

We were assigned a room on the 4th floor but there were no lifts (elevators). We are a couple in our late 50's so it was a bit of a challenge to go up and down. The air conditoned bedroom was decorated fairly nicely but attention to detail was a big miss.

There were bedside lamps but nowhere to plug them in. The shower had a curtain but closing the curtain means you don't have enough room to move in the shower. The shower floor drain was not done properly so sitting water was everywhere on the floor.

Breakfast was very basic although they will cook you eggs to your preference.

Such a shame because the staff were all very eager to help and assist.

The hotel is in a good area, close to many different restaurants and about a 20 minute walk through the park to the main sights.
