Mary MacKillop Place, Sydney1 / 21
9.0
Sydney, 80 William Street (45 min from centre) 🧭 Map
At first it being part of a church felt a little odd, but that feeling was quickly forgotten. The room was a great size and was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was perfect. The location was a little out of the way, but that kept things quiet. We were still able to walk down to the harbor and access everything we wanted to.
The hotel is in a quiet part of North Sydney and the room (and corridor) was spacious. The air con was effective and the bed was comfortable. There were stains on the chairs in the room, however, which were a bit off putting and we had no shampoo - I got some from a cleaner. It was a calm place to stay, yet close to restaurants and busier places. What really let it down was the staff at reception...
A wonderful property in North Sydney with beautiful large rooms, an excellent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, quick access to both the train and metro. Mass is also available on site daily except Saturdays.
Mary Mackillop Place is an ideal location to stay when in Sydney. Located in the heart of commercial North Sydney, it is perfect to be the base for visiting any place in Sydney and surrounds. It is situated a four minute walk from North Sydney train station and within easy downhill walking distance of Milsons Point Wharf. The Greenwood Mall has a variety of eateries and a super market. (Be aware that...
Great location for accommodation in North Sydney. Clean comfortable quiet and affordable. Close to railway station.
A wonderfully serene stay in the heart of North Sydney. Only a short stroll to the trains, beaches, shopping etc. My room was very clean with modern amenities. I also appreciate the friendly staff and complimentary brekky. Loved visiting the beautiful chapel for prayers and mass as well. All in all, top notch!

Welcoming staff and very high-quality compared to most pub accommodation in Sydney.
It was above a hotel with trams running beside the Hotel. But we didn't hear any noise at all.
The room was spacious and bed very comfortable. The location was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Yes it's amazing place to stay everything is convenient. I'm very please with the room comfortable and spacious .
Very helpful and friendly staff, good value for the location
Checked in and 1st room aircon did not work. Eventually changed to different room. Much bigger than original room which had a very tiny bathroom. Both rooms had been newly renovated but walking down hallway felt and sounded like the floor was going to collapse. Staff were friendly but not professional. Very overpriced for what it is but prices seemed inflated for AC/DC concert dates.

Beds and linen were great and comfy. Bathroom was absolutely filthy and there was absolutely no water pressure in the shower so was pointless having one. Sometimes used soap cake was sitting ontop of the shampoo bottle holder, toothpaste on the shower wall as well as hair and the floor was putrid. If the bathroom was clean, our stay would have been near perfect.
Arrived late, night manager Nonae was so helpful. Great smile and attitude. She is a great front of house.
Great space for family, we were 3 adults and 3 young kids. Comfortable beds. There're a few faults/broken things in the room but the staffs were very friendly and helpful. Ample car parking space behind the premise.
We had to go in the bar to check in. The staff was accomodating. The room was spacious, bed was comfortable. The building is old but clean and would stay there again if it permits.
Cheap and clean! Close to restaurants. Public parking available at rear. Happy hour schooners! Yay!
Great stay for a night. Had everything I needed and was clean. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the noise coming from behind the hotel in the park. But that soon died down around 11-11:30pm and I had a restful sleep.

Great location. Walking to shops and harbour. view from balcony is great. Friendly staff. Check In was easy. Facilities was bit out date . Overall was great. Thanks
Facilities were let down a little by old fittings, old air conditioning units, lights, lamps, power-points etc. Otherwise nothing to mention... Staff did an excellent job in responding to our every request!
I chose this hotel for a short Sydney trip during a transit layover, thinking it would save time if I could see the Opera House from my room. The view was absolutely amazing! The room was also spacious and came with a kitchen, perfect for a longer stay. The facilities are a bit old, and the fixed showerhead might be a little inconvenient for Japanese guests. However, hot water was readily available...
An older hotel, the room was clean, except the carpet needed replacing. Our balcony didnt have a very nice view, as we were only on the 2nd floor. The location was brilliant, they had a little sitting area just to the side of the pool which was very handy for us while we waited for late flight.
Location is excellent. The hotel needs some renovation especially for the rooms
This hotel’s location was absolutely perfect, very near to Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, restaurants, shops and jetty’s terminals. The room itself was a bit musty due to old carpets and poor ventilation but besides that it was great.

Average. Was a little disappointed with the initial service as we came earlier than usual check-in, were told our room would be ready in 10 mins, waited 25 mins and then were told it MIGHT be another 10 mins because they were cleaning the restaurant instead. Was a little frustrating as we had our day planned and it was then delayed- without any notice. I mentioned that we were happy to come later to...
Great, right next to a golf course. The view is incredible. Nice.
Lovely window view on the golf club, but just a little too early for maws.
The room was clean and tidy, with a modern bathroom kept to a well cleaned standard. Had an amazing view over the golf course which was a nice surprise and they have a nice little Korean restaurant attached to the building to grab lunch or dinner if you don’t want to travel to far, highly recommended.
The hotel is close to my business trip destination, has a pleasant environment, complete facilities, and convenient transportation.
A bit noisy on the roadside, poor sound insulation, the facilities level of a fast hotel

I stayed here for 3 nights during my solo trip to Sydney. The location is excellent—it’s only a 10-minute walk to Central Station, making it so easy to get around. The whole place was spotless, and I was really impressed by the staff's attitude—they were so welcoming and helpful! As it’s a hostel, I was surprised by how spacious the beds were; it made my stay very comfortable. Best of all, it's incredibly...
Very clean and well-maintained hostel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They were always there to help when I needed assistance.
A perfect stay experience, the bedroom environment is very quiet. The front desk provides disposable body wash and shampoo. Considering the prices of other hotels in Sydney, this place offers excellent value for money. Here are some benefits for direct booking: Late check-out at 12 PM (upon request) Fresh towels provided daily Bed cleaning every 3 days One free laundry use (for stays of 3+ nights)...
My stay at The Pod Sydney was generally positive, especially considering I was traveling solo and staying in a mixed dorm. The Location deserves a perfect 5/5. It is truly exceptional—right in the heart of the city and just steps away from public transport, making it incredibly easy to get to all the main attractions. Cleanliness was also very good (4/5). The common areas and bathrooms were well...
Had a lovely stay. Will definitely recommend and be back soon. Thank you the pod
Nice spot, walkable to everything and in a good busy area. Staff are friendly and facilities were great and very clean. Enjoyed my stay. Not the most sociable though, I would stay again but don’t expect to really meet people here. More for somewhere nice to sleep.

Service was excellent. Unfortunately, the room was close to the screen door that would slam shut every time someone went through it, so I was unable to sleep well.
The location was excellent, and the interior was clean and tidy. Luggage storage was convenient. The interior space and community were comfortable and pleasant. I highly recommend it.
Room clean In the beginning the reception was very friend ly and really helpful
Well, if you love the beach, don't mind shared bathrooms, like to cook your own steak and wine, and love socializing, then this is a great choice! Youth hostels are for self-reliance.
Perfect location next to Coogee beach. The hostel commodities are clean frequently
This place is affordable and its location makes it convenient to get around. The podbeds are interesting and impressive similar to capsule hotels I lived before. The improvement that should be made is the air-con which needs to be quieter when turned on.

Absolutely lovely pub/hotel. From walking in to checking out the service was so good. The young man who welcomed me and walked me to my room was above and beyond. The bar service this morning getting a lemon squash was very nice, and the rooms are very cosy and comfortable. Only a quick stay but I would definitely return.
I just had an amazing stay in the North Sydney Hotel. Great location, close to metro station and other attractions in the northern part of the city. Staff is super helpful and friendly, always open to support in any type of queries. Rooms are beautiful - in the vintage style (personally i loved everything about the stay) very clean and comfortable for longer and shorter stays. Highly recommending!...
The lamb chops at Percys bar at North sydney hotel were just perfect. Easily on par with any other location. Well trimmed, well cooked, with a rich sauce on delicious mash. But the bonus was a range of fresh vegetables also perfectly done, not just a medley but anice variety, all nice and crunchy. Then some mint jelly on the edges of the plate and picked herbs. Just perfect. Very impressed. $34. Lovely...

This was my first time staying in North Sydney, and it's definitely not as convenient as staying on the south side. Almost no shops were open at night. Convieniently located to everything you need. Our apartment was spacious and quiet. Ended up extending our stay due to the convenience and comfort and cancelled our next hotel.
This was the perfect place to stay. Great location and the appartment was fantastic. It had a kitchen and 2 bedrooms. It was nice a big. We loved being able to walk into the city or catch a ferry. I highly recommend this pace. We didn't have any issues with noise either. Its not far from the casino and there are lots or restaurants around including hurricanes.
Great place to stay. So close to so much. Short walk to the city. So many great places to eat within 5 minutes walk.
Probably the best location in Sydney nice views of the harbour. Nice staff. Easy access to the city CBD and found a great little place called Darling Harbour Thai Massage shop very nearby

Mattresses extremely hard and uncomfortable. Felt like cheap mattresses. Laundry facilities fine, but you have to pay for a wash and for a dryer. Front desk is only staffed from 8-7. Given 1 towel/person and you have to pay for more. Freezer of refrigerator awful because it accumulates ice (not frost free) so you can't fit anything in. Cheap/small ice tray to make ice. Toilet paper is not great quality...
Clean and well equipped room. Staff very helpful and friendly. Some traffic noise but not overly disruptive. I certainly recommend.
Staff friendly, but had to visit room to find kettle, and bring an extra hand towel ( no face towels) as 2 persons. Clean room..Excellent map of Sydney CBD but no list in English of nearby cafes and restaurants. Good location.

I’d still like to give this hotel 5 stars, though you might go in with high expectations. The owner is really nice and sweet. I think the only issues are that there’s no elevator and sometimes we have to wait to use the shower.
Great value. Friendly manager.
Excellent location close to Central station, heaps of eateries around the area. Nice and clean room and restroom.
Not sure what other reviewers expect for this price and location. It is loud but get some decent earplugs. Rooms are perfectly neat and tidy, shower is hot. The check in process is on the front door, you just have to walk up the street. A lot better than other places once stayed for the same price that were actually as described here, filthy and uncomfortable. This place is neither
The room was also very good. There was no curtain between the beds to cover them. The blankets they used in winter were too thin. I had leg cramps on the first night (really cramps). Lovely to be welcomed by a friendly receptionist! Everything was nice.
Good location, near station and plenty of places to eat. Long term stays are good as there are many laundromats down the road. Reception was very friendly and prompt. The only thing I can say might bother a lot of people is that the walls are pretty thin. You’ll be able to hear anything louder than a whisper outside. Other than that, a perfectly good budget hotel especially good for a short stay
This quiet hotel is perfectly located just 200m from King's Cross train station and walking distance to Circular Quay. The room was clean, equipped with everything we needed, and comfortable with great AC. Close to myriad cafes,b restaurants and supermarkets. Recommend this hotel for a budget stay.
Bed too soft, I fell down to the floor midnight and got hurt
For the price it is a good place to stay especially if you’re solo travelling and close to the station. There was a few insects in my room however it’s Australia so I understand these things happen and they did come to spray my room after then had no issues. The bed and bathrooms were always clean, good WiFi and friendly staff.
OK rooms for the price, the staff is really nice and helpful. Good location, loads of cafés and restaurants nearby. Nice street, the city is close by bus. Thank you for the hospitality!

Great location. Kinda dated and dirty. Nice staff. Not sure if you could get any better for the price.
The location in the city center is super convenient. The hotel is well-managed with separate sections, and it's very clean and affordable. It has a bit of a university dorm vibe. Perfect for solo travelers.
The advantage is its proximity to Chinatown and supermarkets. The downsides are that the hotel is like a maze with too many rooms, and the bathrooms are too few and not very clean. The kitchen is relatively clean, but it only has an air fryer, no oven.
The location is good, the room was ok, just was facing the street and it was a kind of noisy late at night. The kitchen is rather spacious.
The stay was amazing since there was a luggage room access, kitchen area to cook food, scenic tables with great ambience and they organise events every night.
The location is excellent, with a train station, supermarket, and many shopping malls nearby. Every day, there are various free drinks and group activities. The kitchen is great, with plenty of refrigerators. There are also many dining areas and numerous rooms. The service staff are enthusiastic and available 24 hours a day.
