I had a great stay at the Saintlo Jail Hostel in Ottawa and would happily recommend it.
The staff were genuinely wonderful, fresh, friendly, and very helpful. Check-in and check-out were super fast and smooth. You could really tell that the staff enjoyed being there. I had a long chat with Chris late at night (past midnight!), and he was incredibly polite and welcoming. Another staff member helped me find a USB cable when I needed one, which I really appreciated.
Overall, a unique experience with great staff, excellent cleanliness, and an unbeatable location. I would definitely stay here again.

Jail style hostel which is special for me, there is a free tour of this building (jail), Free breakfast is a bonus, walking distance to nearest transport

It was a real jail, so don't expect comfort and fancy stuffs. The location it's very convient, everything is walking distance.
The staff have a lot of good recommendations for food and for visit.
Great for the experience to stay in a prison!
Perfect for solo travelers or in group of friends!
You can parking there for 20 dollars extra, which is a fair fare.

Stayed here for my first time while visiting Ottawa. The service was great, rooms were clean. We stayed in a 8 bed female dorm. Clean and well taken care of. Highly recommend taking the free jail tour. Full of information and cool facts about when it was a jail.

Absolutely amazing stay! It's perfectly located, historical and simply just a whole lot of fun! I stayed on the ninth floor and if you know anything about the place you'll know that's a workout at they kept the original stairs from when this was a jail.
The bunks were exceptionally clean, the beds were comfortable and from what I've seen lights off seems to be at around 11? 12?
The breakfast is what you'd expect but for 33$ à night (that's what I paid) I will not complain!
The tour was my favourite part! It's just spooky enough to be fun!
Next time im in Ottawa I will be staying again

What a great experience we had here. It's in a perfect spot to enjoy the market area when not enjoying the jail itself. It had its own paid private parking lot which was awesome. Everything was so clean and comfortable. We shared bathrooms and showers but there was no issue. The whole jail was assessible to walk around and read the history. They also gave a great guided tour. Free breakfast left us full. I recommend anyone near or far to give this hotel/hostel a try.

The hostel is located in the downtown area, which is very convenient for traveling.
They also offer activities such as Historical Jail Tour, walking to bars with other travellers (I cannot remember what they call it), and cookies decoration (during the Christmas season). Friendly and helpful staff. Affordable price.

They have pretty awesome vegetarian poutines with a pretty awesome vegetarian gravy! And it actually tastes like gravy!

Delicious poutine, good selection and friendly staff, my only tip is don't get their traditional. . Everytime I get it it simply doesn't have enough topoings. All their other selections are wonderful

Straight up regular poutine, 3 large 1 small. 30 min waiting because they ran out of gravy, I've been told 3 min..... Got half cook fries, my wife got the small poutine which was made of only you know the bottom one, too cook half burn crounchie? Cheese was good, too bad we had to dig to find any. Might try a other location.... Maybe only

Very slow service, we waited over 35 min for our order, it was not very busy. We watched the cook come in from outside after his break and did not wash his hands, the cashier was handling money then going back to help make orders without washing his hands. When we did finally get our order it was wrong, they did offered to remake it with no fuss but we did not want to wait any longer so we ate what was offered. Portions are good, very big, you could share a medium. Lots of variety and it did taste good!

When in Canada you have to try it. I had the traditional and can say it wasn't too bad. The girl on the counter was really friendly and tolerant of us Aussies asking dumb questions. She even went out of her way to find shiney looneys and tooneys in her cash register for us to bring back home.

Ordered 2 medium $9.99 pepperoni specials over the weekend. The delivery man was extremely rude and impolite, despite a generous tip. His attitude suggested he was not at all happy to be here. However the pizza was excellent and delicious - would definitely order again.

Yikes, trying to fathom the terrible service I just recieved. When I called to deliver she said 55min, when the food didn't arrive after 70min I called and all they could say is that they were experiencing delays but it was the agents fault for quoting the wrong time (duh). I had to ask to speak to somebody else for compensation. They said they would apply a 25% discount. When the driver finally arrived 1.25min later he didn't want to apply the discount! He finally agreed to call the centre to verify and kept me waiting longer while he ran out to his car because he didn't have his phone on him. You shouldn't keep your costumer waiting when clearly you are in the wrong!

I went in for a pizza earlier this week and I must admit the pizza was delicious and the staff were very polite and helpful. I definitely recommend it

Two days ago I ordered a medium walk in Pizza. Went back 20 minutes later and the delivery guy took it by mistake. So they had to start again. 20 minutes later I go back again and no one had even started on it. I decided to give them another shot today. Went in paid cash for another pizza. The women who took my order appeared to be the partner of an employee, not a staff member. I asked her and the other employee if I should get my receipt (she already threw it out) they said no. When I returned 20 minutes later the girl gone and the guy didn't recognise me.... I don't know how you can run a resturant like this. Wild.

Mobile ordered a donut to go and store was dirty and donut was not ready dispite close to 10 minutes advance ordering. Also had to attract attention of a cashier for about 3 minutes.

They charged me 1.56 for a donut, when the price was 1.19 + tax. Disgrace.... Don't let these guys scam you of your hard earned money.

It is Tim Hortons the menu is the same, the staff is the same, they are all busy but service is quick and they are all kept very clean!
