Gran Melia Xian in Xi'an

The hotel's location is super convenient, but the cleanliness and room service really don't live up to the price. I'd originally planned to take my child to the pool, as it looked quite good. However, when we arrived, the air conditioning wasn't working properly. A staff member came to deliver something to the room, and I mentioned how cold it was (everyone staying there was wearing coats). She was wearing a down vest and actually retorted, "It's over 20 degrees, how can it be cold?" In the end, I was worried about my child catching a cold, so we didn't go swimming.

The table was filthy with stains (see photo), and my child's cup picked up nasty tea stains just from sitting on it for a moment – truly disgusting.

The only good service we received was from the front desk staff and the team next to them (who handle mail and luggage storage); they were all very friendly. We stayed over New Year's Day, and the breakfast buffet was understandably packed. The food was very average, and there were so many people that we couldn't find a seat, but at least the dishes were replenished fairly promptly.

I've never seen such terrible dental kits. They were crumpled and looked like they'd been sitting in some old warehouse for ages, worse than even a budget hotel. The quality was abysmal, and the toiletries weren't much better. I didn't bring my own toiletries this trip, and after washing my hair, it felt like straw – the overall impression was incredibly cheap. The back cover of the hairdryer fell off after just one use (I didn't take a photo).

From work attitude and service awareness to room hygiene, everything was subpar, especially for an international hotel. It truly wastes its excellent location. Overall, I'd say it's completely unworthy of its price. It's been a while, and I usually wouldn't bother writing a review, but seeing the photos on my phone still makes me furious.

If you just want convenience and to be close to the Tang Paradise, you *could* grudgingly stay here, but even for that, it's not really necessary. There are many other hotels in Xi'an at the same price point with far better options.
