Shangri-La Hotel in Xi'an

A special thanks to the night front desk staff on duty on November 5th. We arrived close to midnight, and the front desk on 8/11 not only processed our check-in quickly but also thoroughly explained the breakfast and facility locations. Their gentle and patient demeanor throughout the process wiped away the fatigue of a late-night journey.

Every single staff member at the concierge desk was impressive. From proactively helping with luggage upon arrival to warmly assisting us every time we left, their smiles were genuine and natural, without a hint of perfunctoriness. No matter which colleague assisted us, the professionalism and warmth were consistently excellent, demonstrating that the team training is truly top-notch.

The buffet was an even bigger surprise. The manager personally led the team in providing thoughtful service: replenishing food promptly, clearing tables, and even paying attention to guests' special requests. I casually asked if they had any local sauces, and a few minutes later, the chef brought out a small dish of freshly prepared sauce. This kind of attention beyond expectations was truly touching. All the restaurant staff were smiling, clearing plates, refilling water, and asking about our preferences, maintaining an efficient yet polite rhythm.

It's fair to say that while the hotel's facilities and location are excellent, what truly makes one want to "come back again" is this group of warm and harmonious staff. Thank you for making this trip so unforgettable.

As a long-standing five-star hotel, the Shangri-La's prestige has been consistently lauded by guests over the years. Its meticulous and thoughtful service, serene and luxurious decor, and high-end, classic ambiance make you feel as if you've stepped into an imperial palace in Chang'an during the prosperous Tang Dynasty. The warm welcome from the front desk staff in traditional Hanfu attire and the extensive food and beverage offerings at the Horizon Club are exemplary. It’s truly an unbeatable choice for both business and leisure travelers, offering excellent value for money! They even offer a professional photography service with Hanfu rentals, allowing you to capture precious, timeless moments in Chang'an. The hotel's second floor can host large banquets, and the quality of the executive suites on the 19th floor is simply beyond words—a definite must-book!

The hotel was decent, and the service quality was acceptable for the price. I appreciated the complimentary fruit and drinks in the room. Breakfast, however, was just average. There's a service detail I hope the restaurant staff training focuses on: when I arrived for breakfast and needed to pay for a child's meal, the staff member directed me to sign the bill first instead of seating me. After I was seated, no one proactively offered tea or coffee. Also, the seating arrangements didn't seem to consider the potential impact between neighboring tables. These small details detract from what should be a five-star standard of service.

This is a renowned, historic five-star hotel in Xi'an. I choose to stay here every time I visit the city. The sheets are as smooth as butter, and the service is incredibly attentive, from the front desk to the waitstaff. During my stay, I requested slippers (some of the best hotel slippers I've ever worn!) and was thoughtfully provided with a shaving kit. It's hard not to love this place. I also dined at Chang'an Xiaochao, and the server was exceptionally kind and friendly. The hotel lobby is bright and airy, and there's a lovely small garden. It's truly one of my favorite hotels.

The check-in experience was excellent; the staff were polite and friendly, and the room was comfortable and clean. The hotel's proximity to the metro station also makes transportation incredibly convenient. Front desk staffer Xiao Yao even conducted a check-in follow-up. Looking forward to my next visit! I frequently stay here. Manager Lisa warmly introduced me to the different room types, and Liam checked me in and even offered some fruit. I'm very satisfied with the warm service from the front desk.

Very good, no complaints. I frequently stay at Shangri-La. The service is welcoming and the facilities are excellent.

Overall ok Concierge staff are very helpful. Except cafe restaurant! As an international 5 stars hotel, breadfast not meet standard. Many foreigners stay for business and traveling, bread, yogurt and salad quality so so, variety also not good enough, no sourdough bread only serving white bread but taste no good! not meet standard comparing with other Shanghai-la hotels or other 5 stars hotel.  Staff in cafe restaurant also very rude. 
ie had requested to prepare breadfast pack in earlier morning as tourist car leaving at 6:45am, arrived at restaurant 6:40, socked that nothing is packed up for you to takeaway…. But the worse thing is as not feeling well, had cancelled the trip so told the cafe staff no need to pack up anymore I would had breakfast in restaurant instead …. however as still feeling weak, would like to pack up some food back to go back to the room so I can take table and eat little more after resting …. The staff told  nothing is allowed to pack up after you ate in the restaurant instead rule And I told her I did not really eat anything…want to go back to room for resting so can eat later after tables and rest but the answer is No No No…! My god! The restaurant like a prison…. No flexibility, don’t really know how to serve customers in different circumstances, Making you feel uncomfortable 😣

The hotel front desk service was excellent. I had a slight issue with my Chinese dinner, but Manager Lisa handled it very well. I'm very satisfied and will definitely return in the future.

Who exactly is drawn to this old-money aesthetic at Shangri-La? Xi'an Shangri-La was one of the first hotels in Xi'an to embrace this 'old-money' style. Even after nearly 20 years since opening, the magnificent chandeliers and carpets still exude a rich, opulent feel, and the decorative items and furniture have truly stood the test of time. If you ask me, no matter how trends change, true timelessness comes from old pieces that have been meticulously cared for and developed a beautiful patina. After all, doesn't everyone have a moment where their ancestral tastes kick in?
