I checked into the room around 5 p.m., put my luggage down, and then went out for dinner. When I came back after dinner and put on my slippers, I found a lot of cigarette ash and cigarette butts on the bedside table. There was also a lot of cigarette ash on the other side of the bedside table. So I went downstairs to the hotel front desk to ask them. The hotel front desk said that there were no rooms available and asked if they could find someone to clean the room for me. First of all, it's not a matter of whether she was willing to clean it or not. They made a mistake by leaving cigarette butts and ashes in the room, and cleaning it again is their duty as hotel staff, not something they "wanted to help me with." Secondly, the receptionist's statement, "To be honest, it's just a cigarette butt," is problematic. It's hard to discern her attitude, and she didn't apologize when I first brought it up. It makes it seem like I was being unreasonable because the cigarette butt was in a small corner, and since she was willing to clean it, I should thank her and stay there obediently. They couldn't even see something as big as a cigarette butt. This kind of negligence can't be excused simply by being willing to clean it. I understand they wouldn't let me check out, and check-in did take over half an hour. But initially, they wouldn't give me a discounted upgrade; I had to plead and haggle to get it down to ten yuan. Shouldn't they compensate me for staying in a room with a cigarette butt that wasn't cleaned? When the security guard came upstairs with a trash bag and asked the front desk, "Has it not been cleaned?" the receptionist insisted, "It was cleaned, maybe the cleaning lady didn't see that corner, it was just at the foot of the bed, a small cigarette butt." Even with photos, they still insisted on emphasizing "a small corner." It wasn't cleaned; there's no point in emphasizing it.

Then, in the second room, the floor was also dirty, and the tea-making utensils were covered in stains. We didn't go to the front desk because we wanted a good night's rest, but it's enough to show that this hotel has serious hygiene problems.

Finally, let me state that the 10 RMB discount I received for the room upgrade was something I negotiated myself. Before that, the hotel didn't offer any apology and took it for granted that having the security guard clean the floor was my due "compensation." A hotel with problems in both attitude and cleanliness—I'll never see them again.
