Dear visitors to paradise, Hotel Playa Colibri is one of the best places to stay in Las Terrenas. Loved it there. Close to the beach(right across the main road). The rooms are super clean and with AC. Many have a kitchen where you can prepare your freshly caught fish or shrimp(or you can buy them at their restaurant at a very decent price). Their breakfast is great and their staff is very friendly. You will have a hard time finding a better place for the price. Would recommend to everyone to visit them. Alex S. (from NYC)

A beautiful and lovely place,
Tge location is magnificent near the sea, and you can see sundown from the beach and restaurant,
The breakfast is on the beach also and its very nice
The pool is great,
there is a parking inside the place
The room is actually a 2 bedroom with 2 bathroom and showers plus living room qith kitceh and balcony

Very very nice, clean and helpful staff

The only thing that was missing is that we got the baby crib just on the 3ed night, but they really tey to gwt it sooner....

Really recommend place on les terrance!!!🙏

Nice hotel/resort type of feeling, right across the street from the beach staff is nice and helpful room is very clean as well as the grounds, only downside is the amount of mosquitoes ( buy a good repellent, they sell it as well) but every room has screens to protect against them entering.

TLDR: probably don’t stay here

My husband and I were originally supposed to check-in to the hotel around 3 PM. Because of multiple flight delays and cancellations, we were now going to arrive closer to midnight, and online it says the reception/check-in closes at 10 PM. We called the hotel around 5 PM to let them know we would be arriving later than planned. On the phone they said no one at the hotel spoke English so they could not help us, but we were eventually given a WhatsApp number we could text. The receptionist on WhatsApp said it was no problem if we come late for check-in; we tried to confirm other details (getting a ride from the airport, etc.) but they never replied to any of our other messages (and still have never replied). We also sent multiple emails in English and Spanish about our delay but these (to this day) have never been replied to. After a hellish travel day, we arrived at the hotel around 1 AM. The security guard had NO IDEA we were coming, no one left him a key or any instructions. He said they always tell him if guests are arriving late so he can let them in, but not this time. He offered to let us sleep outside on some couches, but there was no way he could get us in the room we paid for. The security guard helped us get a hotel room down the street (at Hotel Alisei, where you should stay instead!); he was very kind and deserves a raise. In the morning, the hotel did not offer us any apologizes or a refund. They said we could stay an extra night for free, but that would require us changing our flights, which would cost us even more money.

The pool and beach are beautiful, and Las Terrenas is a dream, but the hotel is just OK. The doors are all screen doors, so even when closed, bugs still get into the room and you can hear noises from the street, other guests talking, etc. all day and night. The bed and pillows were hard and not comfortable. Many staff, including the servers and bartenders were very kind and fun. The town is wonderful and the location of the hotel is top-tier - there were just too many flaws for us to ever want to return to Hotel Playa Colibri, but we will definitely be back to Las Terrenas!

Also - do NOT trust the “AI helper” on their website. We chatted with this AI bot and they said “it is no problem if you come late, we have a receptionist here 24/7!”. That is not true. The bot also said it would “tell the hotel we would be late, and that the hotel would call or email us to confirm” also not true.

We stood two nights villa 37. Our Villa was on the second floor ( no elevator) but it was okay we could manage. The villa has a private porch, the villa had a very authentic old school carribean feel. Bright colors. Spacious with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. All Villas are individually owned so this may differ from villa to villa.

The pros: the space was very pretty and was clean.
Two bathrooms is always a plus!!!
And they bidet and Hot Water ( this is a serious plus) were excellent. Best hot water in the DR. The beds were comfortable as well.
The location is impeccable, right on the playa bonita strip. Literally go right across to the beach for the complimentary breakfast.
The pool looked beautiful ( but we did not get a chance to get in).
Ventilation was great. And porch had a fan that helped with mosquitoes.
Old school persianas that opened leading from the porch to the main room.
The landscape was also plush and beautiful.
Toilet tissue and hand soap provided

Cons:
No paper towels or dish soap provided so you definitely have to purchase.
Stove didnt really work great.
Definitely buy water as you will only get a couple at check in. And a couple of sodas. Sadly one soda was already open when we checked in.
The fridge is a bit dated and rusted.
There are pots and pans but not ideal for longer stays if you an on actually cooking. Just not enough to be functional.
No coffee maker ( big disappointment)
The the furniture is a bit worn down.
TV did not work.
