Hotel Brady - Gare de l'Est in Paris

Overall not a great experience. I will state that I raised this privately with them and whilst they asked me to detail my concerns to them via email and despite me following up they have not responded. Pros: Location is pretty good - not the safest but easy access to transport. Staff were fairly friendly. Cons: There is an insane amount of noise. If you are a light sleeper - DO NOT GO HERE. The noise comes from everywhere. The alleyway down the side, the stairs (as it seems to be 4 buildings they have converted into 1), the swinging doors they have in the hallways. The rooms are TINY (but seems to be expected in Paris). The cleaning is average - under the bed was thick with dust. The housekeeping came into our room so many times without knocking - like constantly. They moved us due to the noise and promised to keep up away from the metal stairs etc - but right next to the window were stairs that were used constantly. When we raised it with them, they said "oh we didn't think anyone used them". Overall, wouldn't recommend.

Unfortunately the reviews of this hotel and the way it portrays itself online are very deceptive. The location is very sketchy, the rooms are tiny and the bathrooms are so small you can barely move in them. We stayed here for a special occasion and my partner booked 'prosecco on arrival' while making his online booking, as a surprise. However, upon check in, the receptionist handed us the bottle of prosecco and 2 glasses for us to carry up to our 6th floor room by ourselves, along with our 2 suitcases and 2 large bags! Not quite what we were expecting but we were prepared to move past this bad start. The towels weren't replaced during our stay despite following the rule stated on the signs on display in the bathroom ie leave them on the floor and they will be replaced. Toilet roll also wasn't replaced so we had to go back down to reception to ask for some, the response was "when your partner made the booking online, did he book room service?" (we were very much under the impression that room service is included in the vast majority of hotel bookings) On the final day the gentleman undertaking room service knocked on our door and proceeded to let himself in before we could respond, which needless to say left me in a state of alarm as I was getting dressed and my partner was in the shower. Only plus side of this hotel is the rooms are clean and quiet for such a busy street (they must be sound proofed).
