Back2ME in Batumi

Highly recommended!

I spent 4 nights in this hostel in Batumi (paid 120 GEL in cash at the reception), and I absolutely loved it!
Staff: The receptionists, Lyosha and Dima, were amazing — super friendly and helpful.
Location: Perfect location! It's just a 10-15 minute walk to the Ali and Nino statue and the beach. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, as well as a currency exchange close by.
Cleanliness & Rooms: The rooms were cleaned every single day between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. The beds are modern, large, and comfortable. The rooms themselves are spacious with lots of fresh air.
Amenities: They provide free towels and a cozy blanket. There is a hairdryer, shower gel, and separate restrooms for women. Every bed has its own charging outlet. There is also a nice mini-kitchen and a common area to relax. The room had an AC (we didn’t use it, but you can get the remote at the reception).

There’s nothing bad to say, really! Just a small tip for future guests: the bedside lockers don't lock, but there are secure lockers with keys near the reception that you can use for free.

📍 Location & Atmosphere
Back2Me is a small, cozy, and quiet hostel located in the heart of Batumi. The location is excellent — just a few minutes’ walk to the beach and right within the charming old town. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a peaceful place to stay away from the city noise.

🏠 Rooms & Layout
The rooms have very large, street-level windows, which can be a privacy concern — if the curtains are open, you’re essentially on display to people outside. You can always close the curtains for privacy, but you’ll lose natural light in the process. Still, the layout is functional and straightforward.

They show you around the hostel before asking for payment, which is a thoughtful and transparent policy. The woman who gave me the tour was warm and friendly — a nice welcome.

Each room has a small cabinet — about a meter tall — for storing your belongings, but it doesn’t lock. If you have valuables, you’ll need to use the secure lockers located at the entrance of the hostel.

The bathrooms were clean and maintained well. Nothing fancy, but perfectly adequate and hygienic.

There’s a small chill-out space upstairs that you reach via a short staircase. You need to take your shoes off to enter. The area has a low table, beanbags, and cushions — a relaxed, informal place to hang out, read, or get some work done.

The staff pays attention to energy use and turns off unnecessary lights. It’s a small gesture, but it shows a sense of responsibility and care for the environment.

👃 Downsides
There were two main issues during my stay:
1. Lighting – The lighting throughout the hostel is a harsh white, which gives the space a cold and sterile feel. A warmer tone would go a long way in making the environment more inviting.
2. Smell – The kitchen is completely open and located right in the middle of the hostel. Because of this, food smells travel easily and mix together in the air. The result is an unpleasant, lingering odor that makes it hard to spend time comfortably indoors.

💭 Overall Impression
Back2Me is a calm and well-located hostel with friendly service and a laid-back vibe. While the space is compact, it’s well thought out and serves its purpose. The lighting and poor ventilation are drawbacks, but if you’re prioritizing quiet, cleanliness, and walkability, it’s definitely worth considering.
