Schlossberg-Hotel in Wernigerode

Lovely hotel on the Wernigerode Castle hill. They have their own footpath up to the castle which takes only 10 minutes, starting from their outside terrace. Parking right by the hotel costs only 5€ per night. The location is fantastic - you can walk up to the castle, into the woods and into town easily. The service was also fabulous and the staff really nice. The breakfast was a bit of a let down for us unfortunately. They had fruit salad, scrambled eggs, vegetables, fresh bread etc. but the scrambled eggs were done with too much butter for our taste.

If you are staying in Wernigerode, look no further and stay in this hotel. I had the pleasure to stay here for 2 nights while I got to explore the Harz region, the hotel experience and atmosphere was flawless. It looks like a magical palace from the outside in winter covered in snow. The interior has fantastic decor, especially in the breakfast area, where you feel like you traveled back in time. The food was great in terms of variety and quality, highlighting what the local Germans eat around this area, with many of the items being home made. Having breakfast with a view overlooking the town of Werningrode, was just simply the best way to start my day. My room was simple, but it was cozy and warm and had everything we needed. The host was very friendly and explained to us how to navigate around the area. Additionally, we got 2 transportation tickets to use it in all the Harz region for free. The hotel also offers private parking spots at a fee, in case you are visiting with a car. Maybe I will come back in summer

One of my highlights of my trip to Wernigerode, very pleasant service and an amazing breakfast. Hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the station, uphill, so just a warning if you have lots of luggage. My room was spotless and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast buffet had a million options and I appreciate the selection for juices and coffee. The welcome package was also a lovely touch, of a bus pass and coupon package. Thanks Schlossberg-Hotel!

The staff was very accommodating and the location has a spectacular view. 5minute walk from the altstadt.

Nice and lovely place, very welcome .Clean rooms , Bathrooms only need some kind of antislip mat in the shower.This place is 10 min walk from the castle and 10 min walk to town centre. Breakfast is excellent with plentiful choices, all in all a great stay.
