🌍
Germany, Cochem, Am Reilsbach 10-14
● Center: 2.3 km

Staff consistently described as extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful across multiple reviews Rooms are clean, well-equipped, and many offer scenic views of the Moselle river and Cochem castle The spa facilities include three types of saunas, a small but refreshing indoor pool, and massage services Breakfast is plentiful, varied, and served in a cozy area, with some guests enjoying additional treats like sparkling wine Hotel provides thoughtful extras such as complimentary bottled water, wine, chocolates, a hiking backpack, and take-away snack packs Some guests found the reception staff unfriendly and experienced issues with room upgrades and check-in service The hotel is located quite far from the town center, requiring a 20–25 minute walk or a drive with limited parking options Additional charges for many wellness facilities increase the overall stay cost beyond the already high room rates Breakfast terrace area suffered from cigarette smoke issues, which detracted from the otherwise pleasant atmosphere Bathrooms have small spaces and open shower designs that cause water to splash widely, making showers less comfortable

The hotel emphasizes wellness with a spa and wellness center that includes multiple saunas, an indoor pool, massage services, and a fitness center. A great but rather pricey stay, especially if you want to enjoy all the facilities this wellness hotel offers. Almost everything comes with an additional charge, and unfortunately, guests don’t receive any reduced rates. Considering the quite high room prices, the total bill adds up quickly.

The hotel is located about a 20–25 minute walk from the town center. That’s quite a distance, though fine if the weather is good. Parking next to the hotel is rather small, with space for about 12 cars. If it’s full, you’ll need to park elsewhere. The hotel does assist with alternative parking spots further away, but they’re not ideal. Combined with the distance to the center, this can be inconvenient. Taking the car to town also means risking your parking space being gone when you return, leaving you searching again in the evening.

On the positive side, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. If you book a Mosel-view room, the scenery is stunning. Breakfast is plentiful and of good quality, served in a cozy and nicely decorated area. However, the experience isn’t always ideal. Being in the beautiful, fresh, green surroundings of Cochem, you’d want to enjoy breakfast outside on the terrace. Unfortunately, some guests smoke multiple cigarettes during breakfast. There are no ashtrays on the tables (a good attempt to discourage smoking), but some still smoke, toss their cigarette butts into the plants (polluting), and flick ashes on the ground (unhygienic). This not only creates an unpleasant smell but also spoils the atmosphere. The staff noticed but did not intervene. It’s a shame that, in such a lovely natural setting, you sometimes feel forced to eat inside on a beautiful day just to avoid the smoke. Personally, I think a no-smoking policy during breakfast would be very appropriate.

The rooms are cozy and clean. The bathrooms are small, which is understandable given the building’s structure. However, the open shower design means that water splashes across the entire bathroom. The only way to avoid this is to keep the water pressure very low, which makes rinsing off, and especially washing your hair quite uncomfortable.

Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. There are a few downsides, but it’s definitely a great option if you want to spoil yourself in Cochem, enjoy beautiful views, and don’t mind spending a bit more.

Very unpolite reception staff, the first room offered to us was far beyond expectations and not in line with the price we pay. If you inform customers via a package that a room upgrade is included, you shouldn’t leave place for discussions… (upon availibility…)
Modern room where we moved to after the first night had the quality we expected for that price!
We won’t advise this hotel because your receptionist was very unfriendly upon arrival

Very lovely get away spot, 3 different types of saunas, nice indoor pool and excellent massage service
Spacious room and very clean
The food was delicious both breakfast and dinner, lots of options, healthy and vegan friendly.
The staff was very helpful, left us a cake for my bday and welcoming wine with some chocolate

We truly enjoyed our stay with you – the hotel is beautiful, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere very pleasant. We felt completely comfortable and look back on our time with you with great fondness.

The room was without both air conditioning and a fan. It was over 30 degrees in the room and even with both the door to the hallway and the balcony door open, it was a sleepless night. Boiling hot.

We where a party of 7 Bikers doing a tour of Germany, Firstly the hotel staff could not be more helpfull they where all very curtoius and polite, the food was second to none, As we where a party of 7 they gave us our own large table and private room in the resturant, that night we all agreed it was one of the best meals we have had, we are all well traveled and have dined in some of the world top place, but this evening meal was top class, we where all given a picnic bag to take with us when we left the following moring. All in all a briliant hotel.

I stayed at the Hotel Keßler-Meyer for two nights in September 2023 with a friend. We had a very good time overall. We had room 4 in the main building, close to the reception, which was clean, spacious, stylishly decorated, and well-equipped with A/C, TV, safe, fridge, coffee maker, free Wi-Fi, hair dryer, bath robes, slippers, a sauna bag containing towels and a blanket, and even a hiking backpack with a refillable water bottle. The bathroom was clean and spacious as well. A nice selection of brand toiletries were provided. We had booked a package which included half board, a massage, a bottle of wine and one of water, a cocktail, plus free use of the spa area until 6 p.m. on the day of departure. The pool is quite small but was never very crowded. I often had it to myself. The spa area is nice, though rather small as well. It contains two saunas and a steam bath. Tea, water, and apples are provided free of charge. Breakfast was buffet style and was very good. There was a vast selection of items and most of them were of good quality, though we didn’t care for the falafel and humus. Didn’t try the fried eggs as they looked quite dry. Dinner on both days consisted of soup (two kinds to choose from), salad from a salad bar, main course (meat, fish, or vegetarian), and dessert (two options to choose from). We enjoyed the food, overall. My only criticism is firstly the fact that the same kind of soup was offered on the two consecutive days, so although it was good it was probably not freshly prepared on the second day, and secondly the horrible dessert on the second day, which consisted mainly of a marinated pear that was terribly dry. My friend couldn’t eat it at all, in fact. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We did have our doubts about the massage as it was included in our package, but it turned out to be very good. When we checked out we were given a snack pack for the trip home consisting of two bottles of water, apples, and home-made cookies, which was a very nice touch. It takes about twenty minutes to walk to Cochem old town from the hotel, but it is a pleasant walk along the river. The walk to the castle looks steep, but it turned out to be easier than I had expected and took me less than half an hour. So I would say the hotel’s location isn’t bad. We had a view of the castle from our room. To sum it up, I warmly recommend this hotel and might return.

Mostly fantastic
The hotel is a great destination for couples or adults. The swimming pool and spa areas are not suitable for children but wonderful for adults. Everything is very clean and well looked after.
We stayed in one of the south-facing rooms (last minute booking) in the older part of the hotel, the rooms was comfortably furnished and a good size. There were many nice touches such as complementary chilled mineral water and a bottle of wine, an umbrella, a rucksack with water bottles that could be borrowed while staying at the hotel. The staff members were all well trained, very polite and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, there were so many choices of delicious food, even options of freshly cooked omelette. They also offered their own sparkling wine as an extra treat, which was delicious. Contrary to the hotel’s website, there is no à la carte menu in the evening but guests have to choose from a 3 course menu by 4 pm on the day, which is fine if one is already staying there but an inconvenience if one is travelling that day but would like to eat at the hotel. The evening meal was nice but we thought quite expensive for what it was. We regularly dine out in the UK in upmarket restaurants but the quantity and sophistication of the dishes, although nice, did not warrant the price of €55 per person. Having said this, we loved our stay at Hotel Kessler-Meyer and we are hoping to stop there again on our way through Germany to Austria.

Great Hotel
Good hotel a little way out of cochem but we had a lovely one night stay nice little touches, wine water & 2 chocolates in the fridge, lovely breakfast and a nice departing gift of an apple bottle of water & biscuit

Very nice spa hotel with extra helpful staff and wonderful service. The room was very hot with no AC on entry, but a fan was provided and opening the window allowed fresh air in which cooled the room over night. There was a balcony with a beautiful view of the castle. A bottle of wine along with two chocolates and a welcome drink at the bar were offered on arrival, and a bag with water and snacks was provided when leaving. Delicious drinks at the bar as well. I also utilized the swimming pool which was indoors and very refreshing. The spa area was large with seating and other amenities. Overall wonderful hotel and very helpful staff. Not walkable to Cochem central city but an easy drive or bike ride. Highly recommended.
