The service was wonderful ~ the hotel staff is very nice and helpful

Hot water shortage during late night and were request to pack luggage and change to a different room with no compensation.

Overall the room and cleaning service was good. However, we heard someone trying to open our door during midnight!! Weird thing was on the first day the door lock was working fine, but the second day it was broken so we could not lock the door from inside. Highly doubted that someone internal broke the lock and gave the key to someone external.
It was quite surprising to me that a 5-star hotel doesn’t seem safe. :(
Other than that, location is convenient.

The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped. Breakfast was excellent. Just a heads-up, there's a deposit of 50 Euros per room if paying by credit card, or 100 Euros if paying cash upon check-in. Overall, I'm very satisfied and would choose to stay here again next time.

The room was very spacious. Check-in took a long time, but after speaking with the front desk staff, they made up the sofa bed for us. The location is great, not far from the Dom. Overall, it was a good experience!

1. I booked a two-night stay and asked for an extra key card since my camera was charging in the room. However, the key card they gave me was only valid for one day, so I had to go back to the front desk to get it reactivated. What I found odd was that the receptionist asked for my ID, which I didn't have on me (my passport). Even though I could tell her my room number and my name, she wouldn't accept it and insisted on seeing an electronic version of my passport. I found that a bit hard to understand.
2. As a Marriott frequent guest, I usually don't write reviews, but I felt this needed to be said. For a global chain like Marriott, I found the breakfast selection to be good enough for my needs. However, the lady at the egg station seemed to have a very indifferent attitude, didn't want to engage much, and had a straight face. I understand that not everyone can be overly friendly, but then a European woman walked up behind me, and suddenly the egg station lady was all smiles and said, 'Have a good day, Madam.' This really made me question her service attitude. Was it a coincidence? I'm not sure.

Hotel was about 5mins walk from the Cologne Hbf.

Cleanliness wise average, found some long hairs that didn't belong to us on towels and bedsheets.

Service wise can be improved, tried dialling to the Reception but line keep didn't get through so we have to head down to the Reception to request for some amenities that we required. Complimentary water was also not refilled. Requested for teaspoons in the room but we were told to head down to the Bar to collect it ourselves. This is certainly not the kind of 5-Star hotel service I was expecting.

The tissue box wasn't refilled even after I told the staff and the front desk. There was a strong dusty smell when the elevator doors opened. The water from the kettle and the complimentary bottled water both tasted awful. The drinking water at breakfast was fine, though. If they're going to provide free water, it should at least be drinkable. It felt like the water needed filtering before use, it was just… indescribable otherwise. The breakfast was very good with lots of variety. Other than those issues, everything else was okay. However, the invoice for a hotel booked through Trip.com could only be in RMB and couldn't be changed to Euros, which was really annoying. I hope Trip.com can improve this.
