Authentic and Heartfelt Service
Perfectly located at the start of a charming street lined with boutique shops, cozy restaurants, and inviting wine bars. The rooms are very nice and spotlessly clean, offering a comfortable and relaxing stay. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is truly lovely—warm, welcoming, and full of character. We arrived late, well past reception hours, due to heavy traffic delays, but the staff went out of their way to ensure we could still check in smoothly. Breakfast is delightful, served by friendly and attentive staff who make you feel genuinely cared for.

Central, Nice spacious rooms and really fantastic breakfast

I visited Zurich dozens of times during my life. I always stayed at Baur au Lac, Zum Storchen or Schweizerhof. Schweizerhof is best for a quick overnight because it’s location just across railway station makes it very practical. Baur au Lac is the most elegant and perfect for summer because of its garden. Zum Storchen has the best location, directly on the river and just 100 meters from old town. This hotel has a very small lobby, an excellent restaurant with a terrace on the Limat river where having meals is a delight because of the food and the view. We had the Life Style River Suite which consists of a small bedroom, a separate living room and a generous sized bathroom. Because it is under the roof you need to be careful not to bang your head against the diagonal roofs. For similar rate I recommend the Junior Suites which with larger windows command a better view. The hotel and its staff are impecable, WIFI works very well. Breakfast is excellent.

If you are in the neighbourhood and look for a place to stay, don't look further!
Great cosy small hotel. All rooms are unique and feel homey with all the comfort you need.
Very well located in the charming central street.
As for the breakfast, rarely seen such a variety. All the food is of excellent quality (I am still dreaming of cheeses) with quite some home-made items such as the jams, cream-cheese with herbs and muesli.
All that for an affordable price.
I wish I would have stayed a few nights more.

We were welcomed warmly; staff is fantastic and accommodating.

The rooms are wonderful; I especially liked the wallpaper and the bathroom wall tiling.

The buffet breakfast was great. Excellent homemade cake and scrambled eggs!

* parking : no designated/special area ; on Josif Wächter Str. (right and left side) parking on Saturdays after 12 o'clock is free

* 1 small elevator for max 2 people, without luggage (or 1 person with 1 luggage) - button has to be pushed&pressed all the way (up or down)
* delightfully friendly and welcoming hotel staff (ask for recommendations : wineries/walking tours etc.)

* exceptional rich and diversified
* seating inside&outside, depending on season/weather)
* ask for coffee creme (way better than filter coffee) - free of charge
* no fresh fruits (i.e grapes, apple, banana, orange)
* vegetarian friendly

* quiet building & surroundings, bright&cozy area, spacious bathroom
* no complimentary/welcoming drinks (not even the basic water bottle)
* no coffee/tea maker, no electric cattle
* all existing drinks (in the minibar and from the table) are extra cost
* no slippers, no bathrobe
* no pencil, no writing paper
* for 1 night stay - no cleaning, no special gift received to compensate the environment costs with cleaning expenses

We spent over a week traveling through Franconia on the Main and stayed in various hotels.
The Hotel Am Torturm was the best hotel we have stayed in in recent years.
