Hotel Alter Markt in Berlin

When you ask the reception about the breakfast time, you must take it and sign it so that you can have breakfast from the food manager. Each one of them has a specific time, so please be careful.

The location is good, Köpenick is a nice and quiet area with good close-by coffee shops. We are also very grateful that the Hotel Alter Markt was very flexible in changing our booking dates.
However, at the time of our stay, the hotel underwent large renovations. There was no mention of renovation on the booking website!
The lobby was unusable due to construction. There were loud construction sounds during the working day. No kitchen or coffee area. The hotel was limited to our room.
On top of that, the heating in our room was initially not working. It took almost a week of daily asking and eventually threatening of not paying the full amount until the heating was turned on.
We got no discount whatsoever and they insisted on asking for the full price of a hotel that was only 60% usable. In our discussions with the (polite) staff, they were always referring to yet another "upper" boss and that they could not do anything - the typical excuses of a company.
All in all, we cannot recommend the hotel in the current state. All you get is a bed to sleep in a hopefully warm room.

As if that wasn't enough, the heating wasn't switched on at first. Only after almost a week of daily digging and finally hinting that we weren't paying the full amount was the heating turned on.
We didn't get a discount, the hotel insisted on charging full price even though only about 60% was even available.
Whenever we spoke to the (very polite) staff, they always referred to a higher boss and that there was nothing they could do - standard company excuses.
All in all, we cannot recommend the Hotel Alter Markt in its current condition. The only thing you get here is a bed to sleep on in a hopefully warm room.

We are disappointed by this Hotel... The "reception ladies" seem to be very incompetent not to find the rooms booked in the System.(posted on a name)...the same was also not in the case of the payment of the entire room...embarrassing!!!! In addition, you can ask for a double room with balcony, two balcony chairs available,and, above all, Clean. A small Tip for the receptionists : When new guests enter the Hotel: change the folder from the lap and the guests...

So all in all, the 2-star gets the Hotel for the clean rooms and the good Breakfast.

It goes downhill!! The room, at least in the tract behind the Parking lot, shabby and poorly cleaned! Radiators rust, after a shower everything is under water! Wi-Fi in the tract without a function! Yes, known,.....as a response....the Server! Breakfast very rich and fresh. Is located in Köpenick, and is easily accessible (Tram and S-Bahn)
