Hotel Spreewaldeck in Lubbenau

--2025 update-- We just left after our 5th stay at Spreewaldeck. This time we came to Lübbenau for the Christmas Markets - see a separate review. We discovered at the last minute that you needed tickets for admission. When we arrived at Sprewaldeck we asked the manager about it and he confirmed we did need tickets. 10 minutes later after we dumped our bags in our room we came back through the lobby to go to town and see if we could get tickets and the manager called us over. He had made a phone call, made sure they had two tickets for us and gave us explicite directions. Whe we arrived at the place he directed the person taking care of tickets was expecting the Alaskans that needed tickets. Yet another example of the over and above hospitality at this lovely village hotel.

It is an easy walk from the train station and is a very short walk from the Old Town section and harbor where you can schedule punt boat tours, rent canoes or kayaks and whatever else you need for your Spreewald adventure.

We had a splendid stay here. Two Alaskans traveling in Germany. The hotel and in fact the whole town is not geared for American tourists. But that's okay, everyone we met was friendly and helpful and tolerated are very limited German. We ate several outstanding meals at the gasthaus attached to the hotel. Much of the food is locally sourced including the pork and beef. It was all top quality, very well prepared presented. If you get the chance to spend some time Lübbenau, off the beaten path in the Spreewald, you can't go wrong staying at the Spreewaldeck.

The room was very clean, nicely furnished, and the bathroom was appealing. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Small, quaint, and incredibly delicious inn. The prices are quite high in my opinion, but the food is absolutely delicious. We would definitely eat here again. 🤩

There were five of us here on a Friday for lunch after a hike. Making the reservation went perfectly. A round table was waiting for us. The Spreewaldeck is a traditional, home-style restaurant. Rustic, with decor that seems to date back to the early 2000s. The waitresses were very friendly, and the service was excellent. For my meal, I had the black pudding with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, €17. It was a very generous portion, though the chef wasn't exactly enthusiastic about salt, and even though I don't use much, it was missing some. We also had the catfish, which was very good, and the beef roulade, €24. Both were really delicious. Personally, I would have found the two small potato dumplings too meager, and I've certainly had larger roulades. Especially since only one of the small roulades was served. For just over €24, that could and should be more. But my black pudding was a very decent portion. In conclusion…a good option to eat here in Lübbenau…especially since many restaurants in the Spreewald area often close for extended winter breaks.

The hotel is okay overall. However, I personally wouldn't pay the room rates. The rooms are clean. Housekeeping does a good job, and the food is above average. The location near the harbor is excellent. There is ample parking.

We were very satisfied, everything was great, we would gladly come again.
