This hotel totally takes advantage of the fact there is no other dwelling available in the close proximity of Kornelimunster, so they overcharge everything. For one night stay we payed over 100$ euros for a room on the highest floor with no elevator. Place is pretty old and floors squeak very loudly so you can hear everyone walking. Rooms are clean, however for over 100 euros you don’t even get complimentary drink. Although we mentioned through booking.com that our flight will be landing late, staff was not there on time and we ended up waiting outside in the cold. Not impressed. Staff speaks minimal to no English so it’s hard to communicate. Nice view though.

The hotel looks great online, but the disappointment upon arrival is all the greater... My first room was a single room.

I should mention that I'm almost 1.95 meters tall... You arrive at the hotel, have to call to get the code, and then you can only get in to find an envelope with your name on it, containing some basic information and the key.

When I got to the room, I wanted to leave immediately. It's extremely small, the bathroom is just as tiny, the bed is 90x200cm, and the mattresses are ridiculously soft.

Absolutely not recommended for taller people.

At least there was a desk...

Now I have a budget double room for myself with a 140cm x 200cm bed, and what can I say... The bathroom and room are slightly larger, but there's mold between the tiles, and there's no sign of a desk.

On top of that, the Wi-Fi connection drops about every two minutes, if it works at all.

In short, I would never voluntarily stay here for more than one night again.
Worst experience I've ever had.

We had a suite. But there the idea stops. Room was huge with a small kitchen and a sofa area and a separate bedroom at the back what was perfect for sleeping. But the room was not ok cleaned. The breakfast was not super and even for a cappuccino you had to pay extra. This was really the last time I will be visiting this place. How friendly the reception at the phone was how bad where the ladies in the morning for breakfast and paying. So an advise. Don’t come

I have from 08.06. lived in the hotel until 06/12/2014 (4 nights).
After very courteous and friendly contacts when making the reservation, I expected a correspondingly good hotel.
Instead of this:
On arrival, June 8th, 2014, around 5 p.m., nobody is there. A code to open the hotel door is passed on by phone. The room key is on the counter at the reception, which was never manned during my entire stay.
Although the hotel does not have an elevator, there is no assistance with luggage.
The rooms seem quite worn, as well as the carpeting in the stairwell and hallway.
The minibar in the room is booming and buzzing until I turn it off. The electrical supply found in the process must at least be viewed as questionable. The structures in the bathroom are unstable. The hot water supply when showering is a matter of luck.

All in all, a hotel in which I never felt comfortable for a minute and which I will never book again

For our visit to the Aachen Christmas market, we chose this hotel for one night (Saturday to Sunday). The hotel is located in a district of Aachen, in Kornelimünster. There is a thoroughfare between the hotel and the abbey, which we had a really nice view of. We stayed here in December and slept with the windows closed. No street noise disturbed our sleep. According to Booking com, each room has its own style. Our room had high ceilings, a nice big and comfortable bed, a poorly placed wardrobe and a replica Greek breasts. Why does she have to stare straight at the bed? Does not matter. I would have liked a larger TV to be directly across from the bed. Instead, you look straight ahead at an antique wardrobe, which surprisingly also has a well-stocked minibar. The TV is on a small table to the right. Absolutely bad solution. We really liked the bathroom. This was very clean, very large with a large shower. According to the booking portal I had expected a bathroom with a tub. Since another guest complained about the water temperature in his review, I would like to mention that we had no problems with it. On the contrary: good water pressure and a nice, consistently high temperature. We had very good WiFi reception in our room, the internet was fast and is even free in this hotel. So far so good.
Breakfast is served in the antechamber of the restaurant. Unfortunately, there were a few problems here. When we arrived at the agreed time, the table was set, but there was no sign of the service staff. We had to wait almost 10 minutes for someone to come out of the kitchen. It's a pity that there wasn't already a thermos of fresh coffee on the table. There was no buffet, instead a plate with a few types of sausage and cheese was served without asking what we wanted beforehand. The rolls were unfortunately not fresh, but were baked. I ordered two rolls and had to wait another 10 minutes. When I go to a hotel I want a decent breakfast. I'd be happy to pay a few euros more for that. What I personally found very nice is that the really friendly lady made fresh scrambled eggs for us. Thanks for that, this saved our morning!
At the next table, a couple of Cologne residents gave themselves up to a challenge as to who would drown out the loudest and with their mouths full, presumably in a Cologne dialect. We were glad when we could leave the room again. I need a little more rest on Sunday morning.
So I would like to summarize:
- Design hotel in a very beautiful old house
- A short distance from the Abbey,
but not part of the abbey as you might guess from the photos
- check in by phone (door code)
- Room/door key in the envelope on the reception desk
- the hotel rooms all have a different style,
- very nice, clean and big bathroom
- large comfortable double bed, mattress pleasantly hard
- Price acceptable, 125 € B&B in a double room
- EC payment was unfortunately not possible on the day of our departure for technical reasons. We were allowed to transfer the invoice amount.

What we didn't like:
No breakfast buffet. Buns from the freezer
Very little selection of sausage, cheese and jam. We would have gladly paid more for a much better breakfast.

Small flat screen TV, poorly placed, low on a table. There are only a few German-language TV programs selectable.

If the breakfast situation changes, we would love to come back. But then I'll book by phone to find out exactly which room I'll get.
Unfortunately, EC payment was not possible on the day of our departure for technical reasons. We were allowed to transfer the invoice amount.
