Stunning Rooftop Bar at Savoy Hotel Cologne – A Hidden Gem with Amazing Views

We didn’t stay at the Savoy Hotel Cologne, but we visited their rooftop bar, and it was absolutely worth it! The bar is open to visitors, not just hotel guests, which makes it a perfect hidden gem in the city.

The rooftop terrace offers incredible panoramic views of Cologne, including a breathtaking view of the Cologne Cathedral. The atmosphere is elegant and relaxed, perfect for sunset drinks or a special night out.

Drinks were great, service was professional, and the setting felt exclusive yet welcoming. If you’re looking for the best rooftop bar in Cologne, the Savoy Hotel is definitely worth a visit — even if you’re not staying there.

Not quite there......
No tea or coffee in room. No little biscuits either or bar snacks in the mini bar. Only beer and soft drinks. Nothing complimentary in the room at all. No nail file even in the bathroom. Nearly a thousand euros for 3 nights and i think hotel could do better. Other than that.... room was great.

This is a lovely hotel, situated right by the main train station. The city center is easily accessible on foot. The valet parking service was reliable and extremely convenient. Plus, there's a fantastic rooftop bar.

We visited the rooftop bar at Hotel Savoy for lunch and were already impressed by the stunning view over Cologne from the 9th-floor terrace. The gin & tonic was perfectly mixed, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed. We can only imagine how magical this place must be at sunset – we’ll definitely be back!

The hotel was a great choice for a short, last-minute trip. The staff were incredibly kind, always smiling, and very helpful, which made the stay even better. The interior of the hotel was beautiful and well-kept, adding to the overall charm.

As for the room, it had a unique look and was very clean, though the decor felt a bit outdated. One downside was the lack of a coffee/tea station—most hotels with a similar star rating usually provide a kettle along with complimentary water or some snacks like cookies, which I would have appreciated.

On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable and a good size for a single room—it was actually a one-and-a-half size bed, which I really loved.

What an incredibly tacky design. All gold and plush and weird pictures and overall design over function.
- obtrusive hotel smell / perfume, you can’t escape it. Whoever thought invented that BS? I can close my eyes, I can plug my ears but I can never stop breathing…
- no water kettle, apparently it triggers the smoke detector so you have to ask for a thermos with water that tastes funny
- no power outlet close to the bed? In these times?

It is a historic hotel. It is within walking distance of the cathedral and is very convenient for sightseeing.
