Hotel Ahl Meerkatzen in Koln

It's about a 10-minute walk from Cologne Station. The Chocolate Museum and Cologne Cathedral are also within walking distance, making it very accessible.

Breakfast is included, the staff are friendly, and the price is reasonable, so I think it's a good value for money accommodation. I would recommend it.

However, please note that the rooms do not have air conditioning or refrigerators. The elevator only goes up to the third floor, so I stayed in a room on the fourth floor, and had to take the stairs halfway up. If you don't mind small details, this is a good place to stay.

It's a bit far from Cologne Cathedral.
It's just a decent hotel for a one-night stay.
The bedding is clean and comfortable, and the space is quite spacious, so it's convenient.

I was a little worried about this hotel after reading the reviews at first, but I put up with it because it's relatively cheap for a single room. The location is OK, one bus stop to the cathedral, and it's easier to find on the roadside. Of course, it's a bit noisy when sleeping near the roadside, and the soundproofing is average (you can hear noises in the corridor). The bed is still a little unclean, the mattress is very soft, and the service of the front desk girl is good when I check in. There is no water boiler in the room, so you have to buy mineral water to drink. The hotel breakfast is also OK, buffet style, relatively rich, and I think it's worth the price

I chose this hotel as I have stayed on other visits to Cologne. Very disappointed to find my room had no suitable curtains to cover the window. No electricity in half of the room so I used an extension cable I borrowed from reception. The bathroom was partially renovated but had bare cables coming from the wall.

I approached reception concerning the problems and was promised my room would be changed the following morning. I approached reception in the morning to be told they would not change my room. This was due to other complaints and guests having to move to a sister hotel.

Clearly, this hotel is undergoing refurbishment. However, unfinished rooms should not be let.

I have asked for a refund and fully expect a suitable response from the manager. This hotel used to be very good. What has gone wrong???

Breakfast was very good and of course with location

Stay was ok but even for 3* I found various factors very upsetting;
#1. Stairwell main fire escape ALL doors were wedged open!! Is this legal?!
#2. Entering the room my first impression as a stained seemingly worn out carpet looking disgusting!!
#3. Using the toilet I found I could not close the door because the toilet IS IN THE WAY!!! *******!!!
#4. The safe for my keys, money and passport was BROKEN and impossible to use - no handle, no batteries. This gave me a worried feeling throughout my stay!!!
#5. THE TELEVISION DID NOT WORK - and it seems HASNT WORKED FOR WEEKS!! Outrageous and in breach of your contract.
#6. A small but simple point to correct - a missing bedside lamp shade.
#7. Finally just a point of service with the lady serving breakfast noisily clipclooping about in her shoes as well as being surly and noisy with serving and clearing breakfast

I now expect some compensation for the lack of a tv nor safe

Water at the shower clogged. Had to wait around 10mins before the next person could use it.

I booked a family room, and I think have very little family room available. So, we were assigned to stay at Level 5. Somehow, the lift is only upto Level 3. We all had to carry out heavy luggages up the spiral staircase.

Staff was quite friendly.

I am speechless and wowed the hotel was built in 1264 and is in the most prime location with such good breakfast
