Hotel is located at other side of Rihn river, opposite to Cathedral and train station but is less than 20 minutes passing close to Kolm view building. It is a nice walk, crossing Koln know steel bolted bridge watching Cathedral and train station. Hotel is nice and complete for its range and price. It has a nice and safe sub-parking. Very overpriced hotel, you get average economy class hotel, but you are paying like for a lower class hotel. So it's my only pretension, location is good, hotel has a underground parking (also not cheap 19 eur for 24 hours), workers were polite, rom was cleaned every day. Will i return to this hotel again? The hotel is a bit far from Cologne Central Station. While access to tourist attractions isn't great, it's close to the subway station. Being away from the city center means it's very quiet at night. The room had almost no amenities, but I was able to borrow a kettle, plates, and forks from the front desk. The room itself was very clean.

It's the only hotel Ive been in Europe that doesn't have a kettle and even a free coffee sachet 😞

This was a last minute booking for a trip to the Christmas markets. We booked the deluxe and looking at the other reviews I would say that it's definitely worth paying a bit extra for the deluxe. We stayed there 3 nights. The room was okay, pretty ugly with a view to the backyard but calm, we slept good, although pillows were not the best. No AC. Very tiny bathroom can fit only 1 person at a time. The breakfast was quite nice, but they take time to refill food though. 25 min walk to the centre, 5 min to the train station, Lidl 7 min walk.

The only five-star rating we got was for the front desk staff; they were very nice. However, we couldn't believe this was supposed to be a three-star hotel. We tolerated the extremely small room and bed, and the lack of amenities—almost nothing at all—but in the dead of winter, several bugs were crawling on the bed. It's impossible to give it a friendly five-star rating.

I absolutely loved my stay at Hotel zur Malzmühle. I booked a single bed room. The room was cozy, but I never hang out in my room. I use the room for sleeping and for showering. Perfect room. Comfy bed. However... our privacy was disrupted during our first day when other guests got into our room using the same key. I suppose this happens because all the rooms on the same floor have the same key, since the key also opens the middle hallway door that goes to the rooms. The outside of the hotel doesn't do the inside any justice. Rooms are big and clean, decor great in reception very quirky. . Service was great at reception and breakfast. What a beautiful small independent hotel in old town overlooking the beach and dove park.
