Golden Sun Resort - Adults Only in Kalamakion

Had the most wonderful 10 days at this hotel. From the moment my friend and I arrived we received the most friendliest of welcomes and were then shown to our room. The room was spotless, the only odd thing about it was the basin was by the front door and not in the bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Delightful George was there to greet us at meal times and the food was excellent on a daily basis. Location is perfect right on the beach. Can’t wait to return next year. Thank you Golden Sun for an amazing holiday!

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Really good all inclusive, the food was tasty and plenty of choice. Clean, comfy room with perfect air conditioning. Great pool! 200m away from a dreamy beach - what a location!

We had a quick check in and taken to our room, our luggage was brought up by the porter. Our room was on the corner of the top floor overlooking the pool. The room was a decent size with a big comfortable bed, tv, aircon, small iron, kettle, fridge and a free safety box. Plenty of hanging space for clothes although the hangers were not suitable for hanging trousers, also there was a lack of drawers. Also in the room was a sink which could easily have been installed in the shower room. The shower room had a large walk in shower and toilet with some free toiletries provided. The balcony was quite large as it was a corner room and the view overlooking the pool was great, only got the sun in the early morning though. The cleaner did a great job keeping everything spotless and leaving clean towels everyday, she is an asset to the hotel. The pool was cleaned everyday and the surrounding areas were cleaned on a regular basis throughout the day as well. The pool bar was self service except if you wanted spirits and snack food, these were served by 2 bartenders. There were quite a lot of wasps around the soft drink dispenser. All drinks at the pool bar were in soft flimsy plastic "glasses", we took our own hard ones to use. The hotel bar served drinks in proper glasses only if you sat inside, if you sat outside on the terrace areas you were given hard plastic. Again here there is a self service area but soft plastic "glasses" were in use. The bartender did a great job of serving all night given that he worked on his own all and every night, the young guy clearing and cleaning the tables was cheerful and talked to the guests and kept the terrace areas clean and tidy. The drinks are the big problem with this hotel, they are a very poor quality, the beer is ok but, all the wines are undrinkable, the soft drinks are like drinking pure sugar and when you get a spirit with a mixer it's only the mixer you can taste. The drinks were that bad that many guests went out for the evening and other guests were buying soft drinks and wine from the supermarket and drinking them instead. The terrace areas were quite small for the size of the hotel and although there is a smoking and non smoking terrace, non smokers were sitting in the smoking terrace and then complaining about the smoke. In the restaurant you were greeted by the head chef every meal time and he continually checked the temperature of the food and made sure all the food trays were constantly refilled. We thought the food was mostly hot and although the choices were somewhat limited, we always found something to eat. Only negatives were soup which we really enjoyed was the same at lunchtime and evening meals, the Gyros had very little meat in them and a bigger choice of vegetables and desserts would improve the meals. Breakfasts were nice, a bit repetitive as were the evening meals, but the meals were far better than a lot of reviews were saying. Entertainment is twice a week, surely this can be increased,

Having read various reviews, I have just returned home. Can't praise hotel enough. The staff all went that extra mile to make you welcome. The pool is a good size with a jacuzzi by the side of it..food was varied and an excellent selection (salad was amazing) cleaning staff deserved a medal. Maybe one gripe was the rooms were a bit tight. Also a 2 minute walk to beach An extra bonus was going through airport in half hour both ways

Just back from a week at The Golden Sun. Modern hotel, clean lines, pristinely decorated, quite clinical. Nothing old about this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our luggage was carried to our room. We had room 118 on the ground floor. The balcony looking out to the perfectly manicured gardens. The cleaner came in daily and was very thorough. The mosquitos did feast on me though. There was a kettle and a fridge in the room. But no tea or coffee and it would have been nice if they’d supplied bottled water. There were toiletries though. The pool was very nice. Plenty of beds even though we didn’t go out at silly’o’clock to put towels out. Drinks aren’t the best. Flimsy plastic cups round the pool, which is understandable. The fizzy drinks are cheap imitations and teamed with vodka did not taste very nice. Cocktails were awful and limited. To have something like a pina colada you have to pay something like €10. There were snacks by the pool which filled a whole. Chips, toasties, ham rolls,ice cream. The dining room food was ok. Always being refilled. You won’t go hungry. There was only entertainment twice in a week. Greek night on Tuesday and two English lady singers on Friday. They were very good and got the guests on their feet. They really should have more entertainment, even if it was just a quiz and maybe a DJ. The beach is only 5 minutes away and a restaurant there for drinks,food and toilets. The strip is a 15 minute walk and full of gift shops and bars. As for aeroplanes..I quite enjoyed them nearly landing on us. They don’t go through the night and probably one of two an hour, if that, hardly noticed them after a couple days. I’d like to thank all the staff for their hard work and for an enjoyable stay.

Hotel was fab !! Golden sun resort next door brill ! Facial treatment with Breena the spa girl best I’ve ever had !! Totally amazing a must for anyone ❣️❣️Kelly bar maid 4 to 12 so much fun and had a lot of laughs ❣️❣️very friendly staff all around
