The food is first class and truly a great buffet - lots of homemade and homegrown food. The drinks are below average in price with a cocktail being around €11. A good bottle of wine around €20

This is one of the best places to locally - if not the best. A great welcome with local iced tea, homemade biscuits and a cool flannel

Also a free A La Carte dinner at Tomatini the on-site restaurant. Also a voucher is handed to you for a free lunch - this is any salad and two main courses for two people - anything you want

The views from the reception and bar are extraordinary, so beautiful to look over Galini harbour. Generously you are given a nice bottle of wine and snacks in the room

We were welcomed and shown to the restaurant where food had been prepared for us despite the fact that it was 11. The holiday just got better and better after that

Whilst here we were the ONLY English - which made for quiet socialising in the eve as everyone was German. Quiet a few kids , but they were generally well behaved

Irene is so lovely and helpful plus an excellent cook. Breakfasts really good. Rooms cleaned thoroughly daily and linen changed regularly.

Lenikos is a great place to stay! Everything you need for a quiet break away. Close to Agia Gallia village, 45 minute walk (downhill so very steep on your way back!) or 5 minutes by car

There are 3 fantastic pools which were quiet when I visited so I had the pool to myself. The views from the apartment was breathtaking and the breakfast each morning is fantastic

As a cat lover, I appreciated the colony of cats lurking about who were incredibly friendly and completely gorgeous! The views from the resort were amazing - azure blue sea and stunning mountains

I'm very satisfied from my stay in Ostria hotel. I really like the big balcony in front of the room. The staff was kind and helpful, the room was clean and the breakfast was really delicious.

Our room was at the 3th floor and was very quiet and had a spectacular view! The staff was really friendly and helpfull! I really recommend it and I will definitely come back next year! (Ps there is a elevator inside the hotel and outdoor stairs)

Very nice sea view during a really tasty breakfast. The little villas with little pools spotted in the hills near Hagia Gallini are really nice and the people are super friendly. I really loved to stay there.

Breakfast was the best, fresh fruit, bread, and a variety of hot and cold options, I really do not think they could have offered any thing else, all tastes catered for with a smile and a cheery chat

From start to finish this hotel was fantastic. Great location above the bay, with panoramic views off the large balcony. The welcome was superb, with advice on local restaurants for lunch as we arrived early

We loved our stay here! The room was clean, with a great view of the ocean from the balcony. There was a lounger and table out to enjoy the beautiful weather. Parking right across the building and on the street

Car parking just outside, so no problem with leaving the car for a few days. Rooms were spotless, large with lots of facilities and a large balcony with seating and lounger

The place was lovely from reception to our room. We were only going to stay the one night but enjoyed the comfortable bed, the first great shower since arriving and the breakfast was delicious

I like everything there: the rooms, the breakfast, the garden, the hospitality of Olimpios (the owner of the hotel), the swimming pool

If you are lucky enough your afternoon around the magnificent pool will enchanted by Olympios mandoline and songs. Breakfast are following a tight schedule but the food quality is premium

I've stayed at this hotel three times. It is my favorite hotel on the island of Crete

I definitely recommend! The hotel environment is very nice, pleasant atmosphere, clean rooms, cleaned every day. The selection of food was small, but tasty, we always knew what to choose and eat well

Breakfast is simple but enjoyable, with tables outside in the garden area. We did not tested dinner; the buffet was small. Matala beach is close, well equipped, not too crowed at beginning of the season (end May)

Until hotel management act, if you’re still planning to stay here and if you care about these animals, help: feed them discretely/sign on-line survey to authorities/donate to Creta association/adopt and/or continue lobbying hotel management

Situation in/around Matala is extremely bad, up to cats poisoning by exasperated; I did not find any local stray cats feeding/sterilization charity !

The current situation of hungry, unsterilized cats leads to overpopulation and suffering. This is causing distress both to the animals and to guests

As already identified multiple time in previous evaluation, there are many stray cats in/ around the hotel, most clearly in need for food and care

Very good AC, and breakfast, bathroom is very limited but managable, very friendly dog (im scared of dogs but wasnt scared of this one very cute), pool area was amazing as well, very clean pool

Spot clean, cozy, basic good facilities, good breakfast. Matala is a special beautiful place that you don t have to miss in your trip in Crete

Tasty breakfast with many options, good location, easy and free parking. The big dog that wanders at the hotel reception can be bit scary but he was calm and obeyed the owner. There was a fridge in the room.

I had a lovely time in this beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly and the property is very well kept. The beach is only a five minute walk and there are lots of shops and restaurants in the area

Very good breakfast, quality beds, very friendly staff, nice little town - but windy. So rent a car is almost a must to have a pleasant holiday. From Plakias there is also a boat to some southern beaches.

One of the best places to stay in Plakias!a truly wonderful boutique hotel with maisonette rooms arranged around a beautifully designed central pool with a pool bar! The rooms are truly splendid, very clean and well designed! Comfortable stay at Cyano very nice and quiet stay in Plakias, not far from restaurants and the beach. Excellent breakfast en very gentile staff. We stayed here for the second time and would surely stay here again.

Insects are quite noisy, throughout day and night so take your ear plugs if you're sensive ;) As a couple we would have loved one big mattress instead of 2 single beds put together but that's bearable

Hard to say where to start: the people working in the hotel were extremely helpful and nice; there are several comfortable beaches in walking distance; the view from the balcony at the seas and sky has no comparison; the breakfast was plentiful and tasty

Bed is very hard. Pool very good,but some put towels out in the morning and don't use the sun loungers until later in the day. This shouldn't be allowed. Good pool bar.rooms are good n big. Aircon is 6 Euro a day.

The hotel is nice and clean in general, a big pool with shallow water for kids and a pool bar. The rooms are ok with one noteble exception. Our room was sticking of cigarette smoke when we checked in

Eva was so helpful in explaining the bus services so we went to Rethymno and Ponormo which were both lovely! Breakfast at the hotel was really good and we ate a la carte at the restaurant most days, the food was lovely and fresh and we loved it at lunchtime for a break from the beach and the views are incredible

My husband was equally pleased that he could eat fish every night. Sfakaki is a good location for those who would rather stay in a real village than in an artificial resort

A lovely little hotel,well presented & clean. The food was good,both at breakfast & Dinner,not massive choices but adequate for us. Drinks were a little pricey,comparable with Rethymno in the old town

(I would suggest that anyone who is considering a stay at the Thalassi Hotel uses Google Street View to 'drive' through the village. That way, you'll know exactly what you're getting and whether Sfakaki is for you

Just returned from a 10 day stay with my daughter at this lovely hotel. This was my daughter’s second visit. We had a lovely ground floor room that overlooked the pool. The room had everything we needed for our stay

This is our second stay at Imperial Palace and it did not disappoint. Even before arrival we had excellent communication from the reception team

Everything is beautifully presented. The bar team were also amazing. We always had a friendly greeting and smile. There is an extensive drinks menu. We’re were spoilt for choice and their cocktails were amazing

Downloaded Hotel app before we left Canada but unable to book restaurants 7 days in advance of arrival. Also the buffet food was underwhelming at times. Also allowing smoking was annoying

It's a 4 star at best and there's nothing luxury about it aside from the one pool and the sunsets

The only thing I would slightly improve is the hair dryer in the bathroom – it heats up quickly and doesn’t work that well, but it’s just a small detail compared to how great everything else was

Supermarket across the street but do not picture real supermarket, it is just a small store. Good coffee is served from the vending machine during the whole day. Cold food in the fridge when we arrived at night

Fridge in the room which is good for cooling down bought bottled water. Food can be eaten under the umbrellas with the view at the sea

This is a hotel owned and run by a lovely family. Nothing is too much trouble to them. Perfect location right on the beach. It has a very nice swimming pool with sumbeds and parasols

Review for Hotel Kathrin Beach We stayed in the renovated part of the hotel and were very satisfied with our stay

We spent a few wonderful days at Kathrin Beach Hotel with my wife in May, and honestly, we didn’t want to leave! The service from the staff was beyond excellent – always polite, friendly, and eager to help with a genuine smile

Breakfast and dinner were generous and varied, with plenty of options each day. There’s also the possibility of early breakfast or a lunch package if you're heading out early in the morning

As for suggestions for improvement: – The towel change policy could really be improved — every three days feels too infrequent, especially in hot weather when guests are likely to shower more than once a day

Our room was slightly old-fashioned, but the furniture was comfortable and good quality and the room was kept spotlessly clean by Housekeeping

The hotel is lovely, yes it does get busy with families in school holidays but that can be said of many places, the staff are all fantastic and nothing is too much trouble for their guests

We love them all and in all of our travels we have never found anywhere quite so comfortable and that makes us feel like we are at home while we are away. We will see you all next year

I was a bit dissapointed to not find any Beach Bags and Slippers in the room, as these are pretty much standard in a 5* Hotel, so when I was asked for feedback on their App, I told them, and the next day Beach Bag and Slippers were delivered along with some extra toiletries

Another slight gripe was the mini-bar in the room was not always topped up and there was a charge for crisps and Nuts! Comfy bed and a great shower in the bathroom made for a comfortable stay, but do take a multi pot adapter, as there are not many sockets
