We stayed in the renovated part of the hotel and were very satisfied with our stay. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and we had our own fridge in the room. A safety deposit box could be rented at the reception, although it's worth noting that it's not in the room, but rather kept securely at the front desk.

Breakfast and dinner were generous and varied, with plenty of options each day. There’s also the possibility of early breakfast or a lunch package if you're heading out early in the morning. The pool was clean, and the beach is just a few steps away. The hotel also has its own convenience store, which is a nice bonus.

As for suggestions for improvement:
– The towel change policy could really be improved — every three days feels too infrequent, especially in hot weather when guests are likely to shower more than once a day.
– The tiles around the pool are very slippery when wet, so either replacing them or putting up a visible warning sign would help prevent accidents.
– It would also be useful to provide a proper iron, as the one available was extremely small and not practical. We didn’t bring our own, assuming one would be available, and ended up having to buy one locally.
– I also believe that adding a standard small safe in each room wouldn’t be a big investment, and it’s something most guests highly appreciate when it comes to the security of their personal belongings.

All in all, a very good hotel with an excellent location and great value for money.

This is a hotel owned and run by a lovely family. Nothing is too much trouble to them. Perfect location right on the beach. It has a very nice swimming pool with sumbeds and parasols. Further beds can be rented on the beach at a very reasonable rate. There is bar serving drinks and lunches. This is a wonderful area to sit on an evening watching the sun go down and sipping a cocktail or two. The bus into Rethymnon stops just round the corner. I would thoroughly recommend. We will be definately be returning.

Good service. Calm. Ok breakfast. Good varied Dinner. Mini market has alright prices. Close to a lot of restaurants, rentals, shops and bus stop. A couple of things to think about: At dinner the drinks are extra. The pool is alright but not too big which affects the demand and supply of the free sun beds. Beds on the beach are 7€/pair a day which is alright.

We spent a few wonderful days at Kathrin Beach Hotel with my wife in May, and honestly, we didn’t want to leave! The service from the staff was beyond excellent – always polite, friendly, and eager to help with a genuine smile.

The food was delicious, both at the rich breakfast buffet and the high-quality dinner, with a wide variety and fresh ingredients. We also tried the hotel’s snack bar, where we were impressed by the fresh salads and tasty dishes – perfect for a light lunch.

On our first evening, we enjoyed a fantastic bottle of wine with dinner, which we continued to sip on the hotel’s beautiful veranda, taking in the peaceful view and an unforgettable sunset. In the following days, we became regulars at the bar – the cocktails were simply outstanding, with the Mai Tai being one of the best I’ve ever had!

Prices across the board were more than fair, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. This is a place that offers true hospitality, comfort, and pleasure – we’ll definitely be coming back!

This was our first stay at this hotel. The reviews were promising and we were hoping for a pleasant stay. But Kathrin Beach hotel is much more than that! Very good location, comfort by the sandy beach, renovated rooms, great cuisine, and above all very friendly and quick staff. We stayed for two weeks and during all this time everything was perfect. We also rented a car and visited some beautiful beaches in the west and south of Crete. What else do I like to remember? Nice welcome by Lena and Maria at the reception (thanks for the ground floor room and for the plant seeds). Smiling faces of the cleaners from the Philippines. Excellent freddo cappuccino at the beach bar, prepared by Stella;) And pampering by the chef, who prepared a variety of delicious main courses and desserts every evening, with always smiling restaurant chef Babis and other staff. I also liked the fact that they grow plants so carefully here, from flowering to those for shade. I also saw small plants behind the reception - a plant nursery. There is nothing to fear for the future of this hotel and its staff - congratulations and all the best! I hope to come back soon;))

Absolutely fabulous hotel. Right on the beach but also has a lovely pool. We stayed bed breakfast evening meal and glad we did as their food is delicious and plenty to choose from. Our room was spotless and regular maid service. The staff can’t do enough for you. Well worth the cost. My favourite is waiter service on the beach who also keeps the beach immaculate at all times. Can’t fault anything at all.

The rooms were clean and tidied daily. However, they lacked some small essentials like bedside tables and extra hangers in the bathroom. Also, no shampoo or shower gel was provided. Free wifi, but rather slow compared to roaming.
The food varied depending on the day, but overall I’d rate it an 8/10. The pool area was lovely and a great place to relax, though the pool itself could have been a bit cleaner.

The hotel is situated near the beach, very clean and comfortable rooms, good service, very tasty food, professional and friendly staff work there. I can strobgly recommend this hotel but rather for adult people, because no atraction for children.

We visited the Kathrin Beach Hotel at the beginning of May 2025. Although our transfer arrived at the hotel late in the evening around 11:00 PM, the check-in process was quick and pleasant thanks to the excellent receptionist. Even later, when I approached the receptionist for information, they were always warm and helpful.

To our surprise, upon arrival there were snack plates and fresh drinking water in the room. This was a nice touch, as we had last eaten at the airport around 1:30 PM.

The hotel grounds are full of plants and blooming flowers, and it’s about 50 meters from the pool to the sea. The rooms are spacious and clean, the beds very comfortable, and the bathrooms modern. We especially liked that a lot of attention had been paid to the design of the public spaces. You could see in the decor (hand-woven rugs on the walls, old tools, icons) that their Greek roots, culture, and continuity are important to them.

The food at the restaurant was very fresh and tasty, and the dinner menu was diverse.

It’s worth especially mentioning the hotel staff – they are very friendly, helpful, and professional.

We also took a few trips to the city of Rethymno, located 6 km away (we bought bus tickets for 2 euros from the supermarket next to the hotel entrance). In the evenings, we also enjoyed walks to the center of Adelianos Kampos.
