Thalassi Hotel in Sfakaki

Great family run hotel and taverna. The hosts, Eva and Dimitri are fantastic - they really care about their guests having a good holiday. It's a small place; 50 or so rooms so it's cosy and the staff get to know you.

Lots of really nice personal touches - for example we arrived late and found sandwiches and water in our fridge.

Food is not your regular all inclusive buffet; its all freshly made to order; choice of a dozen options for lunch, and three or four for dinner served in the taverna which is 300 m away on the private beach. Dimitri is a big character - he's always checking people are being looked after well.

The place its advertised as 3 stars, its better than many, many 4 stars. Would recommend.

We stayed in Thalassi hotel on September 4-12, 2017 and enjoyed it very much! The place is quiet and cosy, the food is perfect - always fresh and tasty, the owners and the entire team are always ready to help, friendly and amiable. They made our stay unforgettable! We really had marvelous time there and look forward to visiting Crete, its lovely sea and nature and hospitable people again! Eva, Demitri and all the Staff make you feel like family. For a 3 star hotel this place is 1st class. Rooms are adequate and clean. My wife and I run our own catering business and understand food and the food here is outstanding. Thank you for a great 10 days. We will be back. A and A ( Isle of Wight )

Eva, Dimitri and the extended family made me very welcome from Day 1. Returning after a year’s break it felt like visiting family again. The hotel is always clean and tidy and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The Thalassi Taverna is always a great venue in the evening even when there is no entertainment. Will defo want to be going back next year.

We spent 10 fantastic nights at this hotel. Eva and Dimitri and their staff both go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need. Eva runs the hotel, and is a font of knowledge, if she does not have the answer immediately she will find it for you, and if she does not have the appropriate map she will draw you one.

The room we had was large and spacious, with tea making facilities and a fridge, whilst the pool area was incredibly clean and tidy and we never had a problem finding a sunbed, and the poolside bar open from 10.00am for all types of drinks, with incredibly friendly staff.

The lunch and evening meal are served in the restaurant that is a five minute walk away. The views from here are spectacular, especially the sunset, and the food equally so. Dimitri runs the restaurant and is passionate about his food, as well as being immensely proud of its source (quite often his own farm) and the fact that it is traditional Greek recipes. That said if you don't like what is on offer if will get his staff to make something you do like.

We were after a relaxing getaway after Covid and were not disappointed as this hotel ticked all the boxes. We will definitely return.

Good, clean and tidy hotel, very comfortable. Although not included, the AC is very effective. All inclusive serves up a limited alcoholic repertoire, very good iced coffees and the most amazing food. Home cooked Cretan delicacies, very well cooked, very generous and attentive service and we couldn't have asked for more. The views at the restaurant are amazing, with glorious sunsets every night. Dimitris is a fantastic host and we loved being his guests :)

Just back from a wonderful week at Thalassi Hotel. It's not posh or fancy and the sunbeds could do with an upgrade but that's more than made up by the friendliness of the owners, Dmitri and Eva and the staff. The hospitality is first class. The pool area and facilities are spotless, we felt very welcome and at home. Food is outstanding. I first came here 20 years ago and will definately be back.
