Alianthos Beach Hotel in Plakias

Booked a room but they tried to put us in a crappy suite 10 minutes drive away from the beach. Owner pretended like it was the system's fault. Made us waste time and gave us a crappy room after. Hotel breakfast is terrible and the service is non-existent. I feel bad for the employees that work here since the manager is deceptive and a liar. Avoid this place at all costs!!

We popped in here after being told by tour guide it was a lovely place to eat. This could not be further from the truth. They were inattentive and unhelpful. The menu is not great and it took 25 minutes to get a coke. Another 10 minutes to get a hot drink and then another 5 minutes to get milk to go with it. Another 5 minutes for sugar. They would not accommodate a menu request for chips instead of potato’s. What kid eats chicken nuggets with potato’s? Would not come again. Went to lamon instead a few doors down who were lovely.

Very bad seafood linguine; it's just about only cream with some pasta. Burgers were okay. They WILL serve you bread without you asking for it and you WILL have to pay for it. Go to the gyros place next door.

We originally contacted Alianthos Beach and Alianthos Garden to ask about availability. They replied that there was none and suggested Anthos Apartments (same owner, same reception and staff), referring us to their website photos and assuring us over the phone that it would be a more spacious option suitable for a family with small children. We were also required to prepay the full amount in advance, with no refund option. From the moment we arrived, the reality was completely different from what we had been promised. The first apartment we were given looked nothing like the photos and was in poor condition, facing the parking lot. After strong complaints, we were moved to another unit, where we encountered cockroaches multiple times (including in the kitchen where our children’s beds were placed and in the bathroom), a leaking air conditioning unit, missing basic amenities, and a baby cot initially provided without a mattress. My husband even had to move beds and the baby cot himself, following instructions from the cleaning staff – something completely unacceptable in a hotel environment. However, what truly ruined our stay was not only the condition of the accommodation but the attitude of the owner and the manager. Instead of apologizing or offering any genuine solution, they responded with irony, denial, and attempts to blame us. Even when presented with clear issues like cockroaches, they minimized the problems and shifted responsibility back to the guests. Their written responses to our complaints were dismissive, inaccurate, and highly unprofessional. In the end, we were left with no option but to cut our holiday short and move to another property, losing both time and peace of mind.

By far the worst service we received the entire 2 weeks while travelling in Crete. Will never stay here again and will tell everyone not to either. Long story short, the air conditioning was not working in our room and it took 8.5 hours for the issue to be resolved, on a day where it was 30 degrees Celsius and there was a heat warning. After multiple staff - including a manager - coming to the room to check the AC and saying they would return, or say they would come to the room to fix it and never did, we were finally moved to a new room at 9pm. This only happened after I told staff that I was standing in reception until it was resolved - they kept saying someone would come to the room and they never did. The heat caused my daughter to have a headache and she was nauseous, and I missed out on all the family events that day while trying to get the AC fixed. The hotel did offer free sun loungers or a late check out, but their offers did not work with our plans - I wold have needed to change my set plans last minute to accept their offers. Instead I asked for the night to be reimbursed, which they refused. I then even prorated the time we were without AC and asked for 40 euros to be refunded - they still refused. The majority of the staff were unhelpful, rude, and did not follow through on any of their commitments. They seemed unbothered by their lack of customer service or the impact it had on our stay. I would give 0 stars if I could.

Untrustful, please avoid. We had booked a superior room with sea view and they gave us a small room with view towards the other buildings, no sea view from our balcony. If we wanted to see the mountains or other buildings there are also other hotels nearby with lower prices. Completely unreliable and untrustworthy, please avoid at all cost.
